Two hours later, the drug in Sophia’s body finally wore off.

But after everything they’d just been through, Sophia was completely spent and had already fallen asleep from sheer exhaustion.

Easton glanced at the clusters of red marks covering her skin, his brows furrowing. If he took her to the hospital right now, people would definitely start gossiping. That’d only bring negative attention to her.

He instructed Warren to take them back to Windmere Estate.

Bernard had already gotten a call from Warren half an hour before, so he wasted no time in making sure the family doctor was ready and the guest room all set up.

Before getting out of the car, Easton wrapped Sophia up snugly in his coat and carried her out.

Bernard was truly surprised. Easton hadn’t brought any woman back to Windmere Estate in years.

Though curiosity tugged at him, Bernard never tried to probe or sneak a peek.

Instead of taking Sophia to the guest room, Easton carried her straight into the master bedroom.

“Mr. Foster…” Bernard hesitated.

“Just bring in some clean clothes,” Easton said curtly, not bothering to explain himself.

“Yes, sir. By the way, Mr. Howard said to give him a call when you have a chance,” Bernard added.

“Okay. You can leave now,” Easton replied.

After Bernard quietly left the room and closed the door, Easton gently carried Sophia into the bathroom, cleaned her up, carefully dressed her, and laid her in bed under the covers.

After making sure Sophia was settled, he finally picked up the phone and called Ryan.

“Easton, you finally called me back. Do you realize you’ve had Sophia with you for over two hours already? Even Julian-Mr. Perfect Gentleman himself-looks absolutely furious,” Ryan said.

Easton rubbed his forehead. “I’ve already had Gordon inform him. Once Sophia wakes up, I’ll take her back to the Roth residence myself.”

Ryan blinked, thinking he’d misheard. “Wait… wakes up? Did you actually get laid with Sophia?”

“Yeah,” Easton replied.

Ryan groaned, palm to his face. “Come on. I told you to save her, not get laid with her!”

Easton stood on the balcony with a cigarette between his lips, and let out a dry chuckle at Ryan’s comment.” Why does everyone assume I took advantage of her? Maybe she took advantage of me.”

Ryan rolled his eyes internally. ‘Man, that cocky tone of his just grates on me.’

“Seriously, what the hell happened? Give me the details,” Ryan urged.

Easton’s expression turned grim as he briefly explained to Ryan how Nicolas had drugged Sophia earlier that day.

“Damn it, Nicolas that bastard actually had the balls to go after your woman? He’s seriously tired of living,” Ryan spat, pure fury in his voice.

Easton said, “I’m not letting that bastard walk away. Line up our guys with Mr. Lowe and blow up every business Nicolas’s got in Jenston-dirty money, legit fronts, I want it all taken apart.

“I’ll make him rot in jail for the rest of his miserable life.”

Ryan agreed and then gave Easton the update from May’s end. It turned out that they’d already gotten their hands on the video of Nicolas raping Emily that night, so they wasted no time making their move.

Sophia groggily came to, vaguely catching the sound of someone talking on the phone. Her fingers twitched, and as her bleary eyes slowly focused, she froze, realizing she was lying in bed.

own clothes.

Just then, Easton finished his call and stepped back into the room from the balcony.

Sophia gaped at him, her voice trembling. “You… What are you doing here?”

“This is my room. Where else do you think I’d be?” Easton shot back.

He shoved his hands into his pockets, giving her a half-smirk as he sized her up.
