Easton was very satisfied with Sophia’s last set of designs and proposals, and the Southern Development Zone project was going smoothly.
Gordon walked in, carrying the materials for tomorrow’s meeting.
“Easton, I’ve got everything ready for tomorrow’s meeting, and sent a copy over to Crestview Group as well. Feel free to check it out when you get a chance,” Gordon said.
“Álright. Have you taken care of Minnie and Tim?” Easton asked.
“When Minnie was sent back to the Hayes family that day, Jackson understood what you meant and gave her a strict family punishment on the spot.
“Once she’s back on her feet, they’ll send her off to Evaris. As for Tim, the police are charging him with stealing trade secrets, and he’s looking at up to three years behind bars,” Gordon replied.
Easton nodded.
“Has any news about what happened at the hotel that night reached Jenston?” he asked.
He asked because Sophia had angrily blurted out that odd question the night they got back to Jenston. ‘Is she still upset about it?’ Easton wondered, feeling a twinge of unease.
Gordon’s expression turned serious. “Easton, the entertainment reporters in Jenston haven’t caught wind of anything about that night at the hotel. We made sure to clean up every trace.
“But when Minnie was punished back at the Hayes family, she accidentally let it slip that she’d spiked your drink. With all those people around, word’s bound to get out.”
Easton’s face instantly darkened.
‘So Sophia really did catch wind of those crazy rumors, Easton thought to himself.
He waved his hand, signaling Gordon to leave.
Just as Gordon was about to leave the office, Easton called out to him.
“Gordon, do you have a girlfriend?” Easton asked.
Gordon was caught off guard. ‘Why is my boss suddenly asking such a private question?’ he thought.
He awkwardly smiled and rubbed his nose. “No girlfriend at the moment.”
“Then tell me, do you know how to win a girl’s heart?” Easton pressed.
Before Gordon could say anything, Easton jumped in, “Or say, if she’s upset, what should I do to make her feel better?”
Gordon paused to think. “Well, it really depends on what she likes. The girls I used to date were all into jewelry and fancy bags. Whenever I wanted to get them to smile again, I’d just buy them some gifts.”
But Sophia didn’t care at all about a 15-million-dollar bracelet. Looks like Gordon’s usual moves are useless on her.
He waved his hand, signaling Gordon to leave.
“Easton, I actually did some digging,” Gordon said.” Ms. Roth is really into camping and sketching outdoors. Almost every month, she takes a weekend day or two to visit Hillcrest Park.
“She’s complained to Emily a bunch of times that May, her best friend, never wants to go with her. May says there are too many mosquitoes. So Sophia always packs up her stuff and heads out alone.”
“If you want to cheer Ms. Roth up, maybe you could find a chance to go with her?” Gordon suggested.
Easton raised an eyebrow, feeling a spark of hope. ‘Maybe this is exactly what I need to do, he thought.
“You and Emily are pretty close, huh?” Easton gave Gordon a teasing smirk, putting him on the spot.
Gordon’s face flushed. “N-no, not really.”
Easton dropped the teasing. “Alright, ask around and let me know when Sophia’s heading out camping next time.”
Gordon nodded. “Got it.”
As Easton thought about sketching, he remembered how Stella used to love it when she was little, always keeping him company at the rehab center. He’d once asked her why she stopped drawing, and she just shrugged and said she’d lost her spark for it.
