Not long after, Stella’s assistant came running back. “I found out. Sophia was supposed to fly to Silverharbor today. She booked an 8 AM flight, but due to the weather, she still hasn’t been able to board.”

Stella thought, ‘She’s been stuck at the airport from morning till night and still hasn’t left. If it wasn’t something really important, Sophia would never waste her time hanging around for nothing.’

Stella instantly became wary. ‘Did Sophia find out something? Is she heading to Silverharbor because she’s found Chloe’s whereabouts?’

The more Stella thought about it, the more anxious she became.

But Stella had just gone to the hospital yesterday to check on Irene. The nurses said her mind was still a mess, memories stuck way back in the past.

‘No way that old lady could’ve told Sophia anything about what really went down that day, Stella thought.

Stella took a deep breath, trying to steady her’nerves. Now was not the time to panic.

She told her assistant to have David sit off to the side for now.

After thinking it over for a long time, Stella suddenly stopped in the holding area. She pulled out her phone, slipped out of the back of the airport, and called Alex. They talked for about twenty minutes and reached an agreement.

After hanging up, Stella told her assistant to go get the car from the parking lot. She’d come out with David later.

But just as they stepped out of the holding area, Stella spotted Chloe being escorted out of the exit by a stranger. Moments later, Chloe came face-to-face with Sophia.

Stella instinctively grabbed her phone and called Alex, her voice shaky with panic. “Change of plans, Chloe’s been brought back to Jenston from Silverharbor by Sophia’s people.”

Alex’s mocking voice came through the phone. He said, “Stella, what are you so worked up about? Didn’t you say Chloe hates the Foster and Roth families so much she’d never sell you out?

“Now that she’s back, maybe it’s the perfect chance to get rid of her for good. After that, we’ll have nothing left to worry

about.”

He didn’t bother with whatever Stella was saying next. Instead, he started barking orders to his crew to stick to the plan. When Sophia saw Chloe, her gaze was steely and grave, but Chloe just shot her a look of utter disdain.

“Ms. Roth, nice to meet you. Name’s Paolo. My boss said I’m your guy from here on out. Whatever you need done, just say the word, Paolo said.

Sophia nodded. “Alright.”

Ten minutes ago, Emily had already pulled up the van at the airport entrance.

Once they were all in the car, Sophia glanced coldly at Chloe, who was restrained by Paolo. “Chloe, who put you up to hurting Irene?”

Chloe kept her eyes shut the whole time, refusing to say a single word.

Sophia gave a cold chuckle. “Just because you’re keeping quiet doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. Check this out.”

Chloe cracked her eyes open, squinting at the photo on Sophia’s phone. Instantly, her face froze, and her pupils shrank in shock. “Sophia, how did you find my nephew?”

Sophia put her phone away, a faint smirk playing on her lips. She said, “So, you even know who I am. Clearly, you’ve been digging around from the start.

“Let me guess, this wasn’t just about Irene, was it? You’ve been targeting me, too. Was it when I first visited her at the nursing home after I came back to the country? Am I right?

“Chloe, if you don’t want the nephew you’ve depended on all these years to find out what you’ve really been doing in Jenston, you’d better start talking and tell the truth.”
