“But I’m all good now, so Grandview Estate is just easier for me,” Sophia replied offhandedly.

May grinned slyly, “Aren’t you worried about bumping into Easton every day?”

May’s smile faded, and she grew serious. “Sophia, Stella’s still trying to find proof that you have a child. Good thing you were careful and sent Lucas back to Japoria early, and with someone helping out, Lucas is safe for

now.

“But Lucas can’t stay in Japoria forever. Now that you and Easton are living so close, what will you do if he ever finds out about Lucas?”

Sophia paused for a moment. “Honestly, before, I probably would’ve done everything to hide it, maybe even wished Easton would never find out. But Lucas is growing up. I can’t keep lying to him and pretending he doesn’t have a dad.”

She kept thinking about that night when Lucas shared his birthday wish with her, and the painting he gave her after she got back from Japoria. Those moments stuck with her.

Lucas had always longed for a father, and Sophia couldn’t bear to see him get hurt over it.

“I’ll wait until things calm down, then I’ll tell Lucas the truth about his dad. As for whether Easton will ever try

to fight me for Lucas, I really don’t know, and honestly, I don’t want to worry about it right now.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it,” Sophia said.

May nodded and gave Sophia’s hand a reassuring pat. “No matter what you decide, I’ll stand by you. No hesitation, no second thoughts.”

It had been ages since Sophia last set foot in Grandview Estate, but thanks to the maid who came by regularly, the place was still spotless, just as neat and clean as always.

After a quick wash-up, Sophia headed to her bedroom to get some rest.

She had just settled into bed when her phone buzzed with a new message.

She checked it and saw it was a WhatsApp friend request from Easton. Sophia hesitated for a while; after all, they were business partners now, and she wasn’t petty enough to refuse a simple friend request, she told herself.

After accepting, Sophia didn’t bother checking her phone again. Instead, she grabbed her tablet, propped herself up against the headboard, and got to work replying to emails and handling some business for Rothea Designs.
