Half an hour later, the car pulled into the Grandview Estate parking lot.

“Mr. Foster, we’re here,” Sophia said, shooting him a look that clearly meant it was time to get out.
Easton wasn’t about to let her step out looking like that, especially this late and with a guy as her assistant.
He instinctively leaned his head on his hand, faking a look of discomfort.
Sophia turned to glance at him. “What’s wrong?” she asked.
Easton shook his head. “It’s nothing. I probably left the hospital in Redrock City too soon last time, and ever since I got back to Jenston, I haven’t really rested. Been swamped with work these days, barely slept at all; now I’ve got a headache.”
When Sophia heard he had a headache, she immediately got worried. Almost on instinct, she reached out and touched his forehead, feeling for a fever.
Thankfully, he wasn’t running a fever.
“Can you make it upstairs by yourself?” she asked.
Easton leaned on his hand, looking genuinely miserable, his voice rough. “I think I can manage,” he replied.
As Sophia watched him open the car door, about to get out, it suddenly hit her.
He’d only gotten hurt in the first place because he went all the way to Redrock City to save her, and now he was stuck dealing with the aftereffects.
If something else happened to him, she’d never be able to live with herself.
Plus, this guy was the head of Foster Group, with tens of thousands of people relying on him for their jobs.’ Forget it, he’s way too precious to risk, Sophia thought.
“Paolo, I’m not coming back to the office to work overtime tonight. Go ahead and organize the files, then email them to me. I’ll check them before I go to bed.
“We’ll talk about the details tomorrow. And make sure to call Emily later,” Sophia instructed.
“Got it, Ms. Roth,” Paolo replied.
After giving her instructions, Sophia got out of the car and followed Easton.
It finally dawned on Easton that when she said she had plans tonight, she just meant she had to pull a late shift at Crestview Group.
‘Well, that’s a relief. At least she’s not out on a date,’ he thought.
Paolo parked Sophia’s car and trailed after them.
Easton frowned. ‘Why is this assistant still here? Didn’t I tell him to leave already?’ he wondered.
Sophia gave him a sidelong look and said unhurriedly, “Paolo’s worried you might pass out. I wouldn’t be able to help you on my own. He’ll walk you upstairs first, then head out.”
Easton was speechless. This guy really is a responsible bodyguard, he thought.
‘Oh well, my whole point was to stop Sophia from going out dressed like that to have dinner with Frank, and I really didn’t want her running around at night.
‘Now that I’ve gotten my way, I better not get greedy, Easton thought. ‘I’ll have plenty of chances later anyway!
In Jenston News, at the office, the sound of things being smashed had echoed all morning.
Some people passing by shook their heads, some scoffed, but most just mocked her outright. Stella only managed to climb to the top of Jenston News so fast because she was riding on Easton’s reputation. All those investors and advertisers were only backing her because they thought she was Easton’s mistress.

If it weren’t for that, with her background, even if she looked like an angel, and even with her little thing with the station director, no one would actually put her in such a high position.
Now that Easton’s ex-wife was back, everyone was just waiting for the drama to unfold and see Stella crash
and burn.
Today, news about Easton and Sophia getting remarried was trending all over social media. There were even photos of both families caught having a private dinner, rumored to be discussing wedding arrangements.
As a journalist right at the heart of the entertainment scene, there was no way Stella could’ve missed all the gossip.
