Early that morning, Gordon showed up to help with Easton’s luggage. As they waited by the elevator, Gordon couldn’t help but glance at Sophia’s door. He asked, “Mr. Foster, do you want to wait for Ms. Roth in the garage?”

Easton looked up, glanced at Sophia’s door, and said coolly, “Let’s go. We’ll wait for her at the office”

Gordon could tell Easton wasn’t in a good mood. After all, Easton was about to leave Jenston for a long time, and no one knew how the treatment would turn out. Gordon knew Easton was feeling pretty torn and anxious.

Gordon thought, ‘I really hope Mr. Foster comes back safe this time. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll finally get Sophia back when all this is over.

At Foster Group, Sophia showed up at 8:30 sharp with her project team, and Gordon was already waiting for her in the lobby.

Sophia couldn’t help but notice that Gordon seemed different today, like he had something important on his mind but just couldn’t spit it out.

Before heading into the meeting room, Sophia purposely lingered at the back and called out to Gordon.

“Gordon, is there something special you want to tell me?” she asked.

“Ms. Roth, I…” Gordon began, but before he could finish, Easton interrupted from behind.

“Gordon, did you get all the documents I asked for ready?” Easton spoke up from behind.

Sophia turned around to see Easton standing there in a black windbreaker, files in hand. His expression was grim, a far cry from his usual business attire.

Sophia thought, ‘It’s a workday, so why is he dressed like that?’

Easton walked up to Sophia and handed her the files, his voice calm and unhurried as he said, “These are the data Everwell submitted last month. If you have time, take a look. They might help Crestview Group reduce future costs.”

Sophia took the files from him, looking at Easton with obvious confusion.

Then Easton pulled out his car keys and said, “Would you mind driving me to the airport after the meeting? There’s something I want to talk to you about, just the two of us.”

Sophia still couldn’t figure out what Easton was planning, but she didn’t feel the same urge to push him away as before. She just nodded and accepted the keys from his hand.

The impromptu meeting was pretty straightforward and wrapped up in less than forty minutes.

After giving Emily a few instructions, Sophia grabbed the car keys Easton had given her and headed down to the garage.

Easton didn’t attend the meeting; he was already waiting for her in the parking lot.

When Sophia arrived, Easton just hopped into the passenger seat, and Sophia naturally took the wheel, playing chauffeur for him.

Easton stayed silent the whole way, eyes glued to his phone as he dealt with work emails. Sophia kept her attention on driving, not saying a word.

When they reached the airport, the private jet’s steward was already waiting for them in the VIP lounge.

Sophia and Easton got out of the car together, with Sophia trailing behind him.

Suddenly, Easton turned around, paused for a moment, and said, “There are still some unresolved matters at the Menolia branch’s research center, and a few products haven’t been fully brought back to the domestic side yet.
