Annie was still up, waiting for her.

“Sophia, why are you back so late?” Annie asked, her heart aching for her. So much had happened in the past half month, and Sophia had gotten so much thinner.

Sophia looked exhausted and serious. She said, “The Maritime Authority did their best for us, but the customs people are still being relentless. They probably won’t show up tonight, but tomorrow they’ll come back to interrogate us again.”
