Derrick had just stepped out of the Crestview Group building when a few police officers walked up to him before he could even reach his car.

“Mr. Grant, we suspect you’re involved in a missing child case. Please come with us to the station for questioning,” one of the officers said.

Derrick raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself, ‘So, someone’s finally run out of patience.

‘Whatever, I’ll just play along and see what happens.’

He nodded and said, “Sure, but I need to call my lawyer first.”

The lead officer nodded.

Derrick pulled out his phone and called May.

Sophia had just finished dinner with May in the university district and had just gotten back to their apartment. She hadn’t even walked through the door when her phone rang.it was Derrick.

When Sophia heard Derrick was being taken away by the police, panic surged through her. She and May rushed out the door, jumped in the car, and sped off toward the police station.

Ever since they got to the station, it had been hours, and now it was already past four in the morning. Derrick was still stuck in the interrogation room, with no sign of him coming out.

May had been handling the process for Derrick earlier, but lawyers weren’t allowed in for the actual questioning. Once she finished up, she sat down next to Sophia on the bench in the hallway.

May said, “Sophia, don’t stress. The surveillance footage they’ve got only shows that Derrick and Stella’s kid just happened to be at the mall at the same time, and those few seconds they crossed paths don’t mean anything.

“The guy in the video who took the kid kind of looks like Derrick from behind, but that’s not enough to pin this on him. David’s still missing, there’s no witness, and the evidence is flimsy. I’m sure I can get him out of this.”

Sophia nodded.

Suddenly, something clicked for her. She thought, ‘Derrick is still stuck at the station. The stock market opens first thing tomorrow, and the Weston family might make a move.’

Sophia stood up and said, “May, can you stay here and handle things for Derrick? I don’t really know much about stocks, but Crestview Group can’t go without someone from the Roth family right now.”,

May understood Sophia’s worries. She said, “Go, I’ll take care of things here and get back with Derrick as soon as I can.”

Sophia rushed out of the police station and drove straight to Crestview Group.

Sophia had already called Paolo and Emily back in advance, and now, with the first light of dawn breaking, they were all gathered at the office.

“Sophia, I thought you’d already gone back to Japoria. How come you’re at the office this early?” Emily asked, looking surprised.

“If he manages to get out and rushes back to Crestview Group, everything we’ve done these past few days could go down
