358.Chapter 358
Annie stepped forward and put her arms around Sophia’s shoulder. “It’s okay. Easton is probably just mad. I’ll call him later and talk to him, or maybe I’ll ask my mom to talk to him.”
The tears finally fell, and Sophia gave a bitter smile, shaking her head. “It’s no use. Easton always means what he says. Once he makes up his mind, no one can talk him out of it.”
Annie just let out a sigh. That really was the kind of person Easton was.
Easton walked out of the hospital, slid into his car, and called Ryan. “Come downstairs.”
Ryan had just finished donating blood to Lucas and was chilling in the office. He was about to head out when he got Easton’s call.
As soon as Ryan got into the car, he could feel the heavy, suffocating tension radiating off Easton.
“Come on, are you still mad that Sophia had me donate blood to the kid instead of you?” Ryan joked, hoping to
break the tension.
“Thanks,” Easton said, his voice calm and impossible to read.
Ryan felt shocked. He’d known Easton for over twenty years, and this was the first time he’d ever heard him say “thanks”.
Ryan just found this really weird.
Easton rolled down the window, lit up a cigarette, took a long drag, and let out a heavy cloud of smoke. “Lucas is my son.”
Ryan was so stunned that he almost choked on his own spit.
“Holy crap,” Ryan blurted out, completely at a loss for words.
He thought, ‘How is this possible? The child turns out to be Easton’s son.’
“I’m going to fight Sophia for custody. Allison is coming back soon, and she’ll handle everything for me,” Easton said, his voice cold and resolute.
Ryan was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that Easton had a kid, and now he was hit with the bombshell that Easton actually wanted to fight Sophia for custody.
He said, “You’re joking, right? You and Sophia have a kid. Isn’t that a sign you two might get back together? Why are you making this a custody battle? Won’t that just make things even worse between you guys?”
Easton’s eyes turned even darker. “Sophia would never agree to get back together with me. Honestly, as long as she doesn’t take Lucas and disappears again, that’s already a relief.”
Easton knew that right now, the only way to keep Sophia in his life for good was to fight for custody of Lucas. Their relationship was something he’d deal with later. He’d find a way to fix things between them.
Ryan knew Easton well. If Sophia weren’t so stubborn, Easton would never have the heart to fight her for custody of their kid.
He’d seen Easton go all out trying to get Sophia back over the years, and he knew Easton loved her so much that he’d even put his own life on the line for her.
Of course, Sophia had sacrificed way more than Easton ever did, but now they had a child. If they couldn’t get back together, that would be the real heartbreak.
Ryan could tell that Easton was determined to win, no matter what.
It was a drastic move, but he was out of options.
May had flown out to Menolia for a business trip yesterday, so she had no idea what had happened to Sophia today.
When Sophia called and told her everything, May’s hands started sweating.
She said, “Catherine is totally insane. How could she actually do something like that? Just wait. I’ll go back

Sophia rubbed her forehead, feeling the stress mounting. “May, don’t worry about Catherine now. What I really need to know is-do I even have a shot at getting custody of Lucas?”
Sophia had already run through every worst-case scenario in her mind.
May paused for a moment, then said, speaking as a lawyer, “Honestly, it’s basically a toss-up between you two.” However, with Easton’s reputation and influence in Jenston, it would be really tough for Sophia to go up against him for custody of Lucas.
Plus, this kind of court fight could take forever, and that was really bad for Lucas.
