“Some companies are willing to accept our compensation and sign settlement deals, but two of them just won’t budge. They’re insisting on taking us to court.

“We need to sort this out fast. The research center is about to go public, and we can’t let this affect the launch.”

Easton frowned. “Which two companies are we talking about?”

Allison handed over the documents.

“Alright. I’ll have Gordon negotiate with them tomorrow. Get all the paperwork ready and join us,” Easton said.

Allison nodded. “That means Gordon and I won’t be able to attend the meeting tomorrow morning. Mr. Foster, can you keep an eye on my dad for me?”

Easton thought it over for a moment. “Alright.”

Once Easton agreed, Allison finally felt at ease and walked out of the office.

Rowen was Easton’s mentor, and he was getting up there in age. On the very day they arrived in Jenston, he had already started feeling unwell.

If it weren’t for coming to Cedarica to help Easton with the new research center, he could’ve just stayed in the hospital and focused on his recovery.

With Gordon and Allison both out tomorrow, there’s no way Easton would just leave Rowen by himself at the research

center.

Early the next morning, Allison had her paperwork ready and was about to head out with Gordon to deal with the compensation case at the courthouse. Just as she stepped out of her hotel room, she bumped into her dad. “Dad, what are you doing so early? The meeting’s not till nine. We’ve got plenty of time,” Allison said.

Rowen’s face was serious. “Allison, you don’t need to head out today.”

Allison blinked, confused. “Why? I already told Mr. Foster I’d go to the courthouse with Gordon first thing to sort out the compensation stuff.”

Rowen waved her off. “Mr. Foster caught an early flight this morning. Gordon is running the meeting, and he has Katherine and a couple of legal assistants handling the compensation. Just stay here and hang out with me, okay?”

Allison’s eyes went wide with shock. “What? How could this happen? I talked everything through with Mr. Foster last night. Why would he suddenly leave Cedarica? He can’t go. I won’t let him!”

Rowen pulled Allison back into the room, his voice stern. “Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been scheming behind my back. Those little tricks of yours might fool Easton once or twice, but the only reason he trusts you is because of me. “Allison, if you want to hold on to the career you’ve worked so hard for, listen to your father and let this go.

“A man like Easton isn’t someone you can just have because you want him, and Vivian is way more complicated than you realize,” Rowen warned.

Allison didn’t care at all about what her father said. His words went in one ear and out the other. Right now, she was freaking out inside, knowing Easton was already on his way to Haverton.

She needed to give Frank a heads-up ASAP so he could be ready for whatever was coming.

Allison put on an act of being mad and dashed into the bathroom. She whipped out her phone and tried calling Frank, but he just wouldn’t answer.

Left with no choice, she dialed up Vivian’s assistant instead.

“Got it, I’ll let Ms. Scott know,” the assistant replied.

After hanging up, the assistant hurried into the chairman’s office to report, “Ms. Scott, Easton will be arriving in Haverton today.”

Vivian set down her pen and raised an eyebrow. “My son, just like his father, is totally romantic. Alright, you can go. Make sure someone is keeping a close eye on Frank. As for Easton, now is not the time for me to meet him.”
