468 Chapter 468
468.Chapter 468
Irene drew in a sharp breath, her tone icy, “Back then, when you and Sebastian were fighting over that divorce, I got that you were hurting, and I know you had a lot of hate in your heart.”
She continued, “But that doesn’t mean you could take it out on Easton. He was just a kid! Even wild animals protect their own youth. If you wanted to end it all, why drag him down with you?”
She added, “How was that fair to him? If your sister hadn’t noticed something was off, Easton could’ve ended up crippled for life.”
Vivian scoffed, her voice dripping with bitterness, “It was you who betrayed me, and Sebastian, too. Easton is my son. I gave him life. If I couldn’t go on, why should I keep the bloodline going for you?”
Vivian sneered, “Back then, you were dead set on making Sebastian marry me, just because the Scott family had those land development rights in Harlinton.”
“With the Scott family as your shield, Foster Group would’ve been unstoppable,” she added.
Then her tone shifted, “But you never imagined the Scott family would go bankrupt after that financial crisis, did you? I went from being someone in the Foster family to a complete nobody overnight.”
“Sebastian was still hung up on Wendy. He even hired a private investigator behind me to look for her. When he found out she’d had a miscarriage because of him, he locked himself in his study and cried like a child,” she added.
“I was pregnant too, but he couldn’t care less. That was his own kid, and he couldn’t even pretend to be happy,” Vivian snapped.
She added coldly, “If he didn’t want this child, then what was the point of keeping him? If you hadn’t promised me you’d find a way to make Sebastian change his mind, I never would’ve had Easton.”
Irene let out a mocking laugh, “Vivian, ask yourself, was it really me who insisted Sebastian marry you?”
She added, “You were the one who fell for him at first sight at that party, and you were the one who had your father come to me in private to talk about marriage.”
She continued, “Wendy was never the right match for Sebastian. No matter how deep their feelings were, if she met someone better, she’d drop him in a heartbeat.”
She concluded, “So when your father suggested the marriage alliance, the first time I saw you, you were clever and pretty. I was satisfied, so I agreed to the marriage right away.”
“I knew Sebastian couldn’t get over Wendy, but Vivian, maybe you’ve forgotten what I taught you back then,” Irene said, her voice sharp.
“Listen, a woman, especially one married into a powerful family, can’t just be a trophy wife,” she explained.
“The Foster family is a big deal, and if you want to really be one of us, you have to bring something to the table and stand side by side with your husband. That’s why I showed you the ropes in business myself.” Irene added.
“And to be fair, you didn’t let me down. You were sharp, picked up everything I taught you in no time. Sebastian started to see your good side, and when Easton was two, you two were actually in love,” she said.
“But you got greedy, always wanted more, and your reckless moves nearly tanked Foster Group more than once.” Irene sighed.
“Sebastian was busting his ass for the company, and what about you? Not only did you keep causing trouble for the group, but you were paranoid as hell,” she continued.
“Anytime a woman gets close to him, you lose it and do something crazy to hurt them. Did you ever trust your husband, even a little? Did you ever try to understand how hard he had it?” she asked.
“It takes two to ruin a marriage. And Wendy, you treated her like a thorn in your side every single day. No wonder you were never happy.” Irene sneered.
“When you wanted to take Easton away, I didn’t stand in your way. I trusted that you’d come to your senses eventually,” Irene said, her voice steady.
Irene set the prayer beads down on the table, her face darkening with anger. “But I misjudged you,” she exclaimed.
“Sebastian’s death, you were definitely involved Successfully unlocked!
