After getting their boarding passes, the two of them headed into the waiting area.

“What’s he doing here?” Charlotte blurted out.

Sophia followed Charlotte’s gaze and spotted a guy who looked really familiar, but she had this nagging feeling she’d seen him somewhere before and just couldn’t remember where.

“You know him?” Sophia asked, looking confused.

Charlotte nodded. “That’s Dexter Hayes, Frank’s half-brother.”

Hearing the name, Sophia finally remembered. She’d seen him at that party before, and Easton and Ryan had talked about him, too.

He was the illegitimate son everyone was talking about, the one who was supposedly back to take over Hayes Group,

“Let’s sit over here,” Charlotte said, pulling Sophia to another spot.

Charlotte seemed to be deliberately steering Sophia away from Dexter, as if she was trying to avoid him.

Charlotte thought to herself, ‘That guy looks way too sly, like a fox, so sneaky and cunning. If I could help it, I’d rather not get involved with him at all.’

Sophia noticed Charlotte seemed a bit uneasy when she looked at Dexter.

Then Dexter suddenly turned around, his eyes fell on them, and he gave Charlotte a brief glance.

After that, he looked away, his face completely blank.

“Why are you acting like you’re afraid of him?” Sophia teased, amused by Charlotte’s behavior.

Charlotte hesitated for a moment. “No… I’m not scared of him, not at all!” she insisted, trying to sound casual.

Charlotte quickly steered the conversation elsewhere, chatting with Sophia about other things.

When Sophia and Charlotte arrived in Almere, Easton had already arranged for Charles to pick them up at the airport.

Charles spotted Sophia coming out of the airport and called out, “Hey, Sophia! Long time no see. Let me get that for you.”

He hurried over and took their suitcases.

“Mr. Thorne, this is Charlotte Vaughn,” Sophia added.

Charles extended his hand in a gentlemanly manner. “Miss Vaughn, a pleasure to meet you.”

After greeting each other, Sophia and Charlotte hopped into Charles’s car.

After checking into the hotel, Sophia suddenly felt a stomachache. She lay down on the bed, recalling what May had said, and glanced at the calendar app on her phone.

Her period really was a few days late this month.

Sophia’s heart skipped a beat. ‘No way… Could I really be pregnant?’ she wondered, feeling a rush of nerves.

She called the hotel front desk and asked them to buy and deliver two pregnancy tests to her room.

Fifteen minutes later, Sophia stepped into the bathroom, her stomach in knots.

As the seconds crawled by, Sophia checked the result on the test. The moment she saw it, she breathed a sigh of relief.

‘Thank goodness, it’s negative, she thought, feeling instantly at ease.

Still, to be extra sure, she’d test again in the morning.

At Hayes Group, Frank sat at his desk, working through some paperwork. His assistant knocked and stepped in.

“Mr. Hayes, you called it. Ms. Roth really does have a bunch of bodyguards shadowing her,” the assistant reported.

Frank put down his pen.

‘Easton’s as careful as ever. Looks like ever since they got back from Haverton, he’s had people watching Sophia’s every move, Frank mused.

After the assistant left, Frank gave Allison a call. “How’s your injury?” he asked.

“Thanks to you, it’s not too serious. I should be fine in two or three weeks,” Allison replied.

Frank let out a cold laugh, “You sure know how to play the wounded card, Allison. With this little stunt, you get to extend your stay in the country even longer.”
