He laughed heartily, then helped Charlotte to some of her favorite food, placing it gently on her plate. He looked at her tenderly and said, “Eat slowly, alright?”

Charlotte’s lips curved into a soft smile as she replied, “Okay.”

After a few rounds of drinks, Charlotte suddenly got a call. She said, “Emily, what’s wrong? Don’t cry, just take a breath and tell me what happened.”

Dexter stayed cool, chatting and drinking with Mason, while June and Vivian kept their eyes on Charlotte

“Okay, I’ll be right back. Just look after Sophia for now,” Charlotte said.

Charlotte hung up, her face tense. Dexter leaned in, worried. He asked, “What happened? Is something wrong?”

Charlotte said, “Emily just called from the office. She said my boss, Sophia, was hit by a car. It sounds really serious. She might be in danger.

“I took the day off to come here with you, but now something urgent has come up at work. I need to rush back

now.”

June was practically buzzing with excitement. She thought, ‘Did Catherine really succeed this time?”

Mason, worried that June’s excitement might make her slip up, squeezed her hand. Then, with a stern look, he turned to Charlotte and said, “You know we’re targeting Foster Group right now. Why didn’t you resign from Crestview sooner?

“We’re in the middle of a celebration, and you want to leave? Care to explain yourself?”

Charlotte looked troubled. She said, “Mason, I honestly had no idea you all had so many plans going on behind the scenes. I only joined Crestview to gain some work experience.”

Mason set his fork down and pressed, “But once you found out, why didn’t you leave Crestview immediately?” Dexter spoke up to defend Charlotte, “Charlotte already put in her resignation half a month ago. She just has some handover work left, and once that’s done, she’ll be out of Crestview.

“The call was from Sophia’s secretary. Apparently, something serious happened to Sophia, and Charlotte has to go back to handle some urgent business. She really can’t refuse.

“Besides, letting her go back now could actually help us. She might be able to get some intel on Sophia’s situation, which could work to our advantage.”

Vivian nodded, seeing the sense in Dexter’s words. She said, “Mr. Ford, Mr. Hayes is right. Let Miss Vaughn head back to Jenston to finish up her work, and she can keep an ear out for any news while she’s there.”

Mason’s face relaxed. He said, “Alright, I’ll get a flight set up for you. Just make sure to update Dexter the moment you hear anything.”

Charlotte nodded, and Dexter stood up to walk her out.

June quickly shot off a text to her contacts in Jenston. Her phone buzzed with a reply almost right away. Turns out, Sophia really had been run down by Catherine, and she’d already been rushed to Remony Medical Center

Vivian sat nearby, keeping a close eye on June’s every move. She smirked, then found an excuse to call Sammantha

“Sophia’s already in trouble. Easton’s bound to be busy with her, so you handle trene for me. I expect good news in an hour,” Vivian said.

Samantha’s car had been parked near Windmere Estate all this time. Now that Sophia was in trouble, Irene would definitely hear about it, and as soon as she stepped out, Samantha would be ready to act.

Nobody bothered to keep it quiet when word got out that Sophia had been hit by Catherine. The news was left to spread like wildfire, and now Foster Group, Crestview Group, and even the hospital were crawling with reporters.
