Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 75

75.Chapter 75

Sophia gave May a light pinch at the waist. “So you set me up like this, huh?”

May stuck out her tongue playfully. “If this turns out to be fate, I don’t mind playing the bad guy for once.”

Sophia could only swallow her frustration and forced a smile as she faced the man in front of her.

Frank strode right over, his smile easy and familiar. “Sophia, long time no see.”

“Frank, it really has been a while,” Sophia replied-her voice friendly but with a hint of formality.

Everyone took their seats, and since the folks from the law firm all knew Sophia, they gave her quick hellos as she joined them.

Even though plenty of curious glances were thrown Sophia and Frank’s way, it was a company dinner after all, so everyone kept things strictly professional and stuck to work talk.

While chatting with everyone at the table, Frank didn’t ignore Sophia sitting next to him. He even made sure she had enough food, always looking out for her.

“Sophia, I didn’t realize until I came back that you’d spent those years in Japoria. When I found out about your divorce, I actually asked your dad about you, but he wouldn’t say a thing. If I’d known-” Frank’s voice grew quiet.

“Frank, that’s all in the past. Let’s just leave it there,” Sophia interrupted. She knew exactly where Frank was going with that. No way was she letting him dig up the old stuff.

Frank assumed Sophia was avoiding any talk about her history with Easton, and oddly enough, that made him secretly happy. ‘Yeah, what’s done is done, just leave the past behind,’ he thought to himself.

Now that he’d come back to the country, it felt like everything could begin again. “Alright, I won’t mention it anymore. What matters now is the future,” Frank said, hope glinting in his voice.

Sophia offered him a gentle smile.

After dinner, Frank was about to walk Sophia out, but she turned him down with a polite smile. He let it go without pressing any further.

After stepping out of the private room and into the hotel lobby, Easton came out onto the second floor for a smoke, only to catch sight of Sophia and Frank together downstairs.

He couldn’t make out their conversation from afar, but Sophia’s beaming smile was right in his line of sight, and for Easton, it was almost blinding.

‘So that’s why she bolted out earlier-just to meet up with that Hayes guy, Easton thought, lips pressed tight with irritation. His expression turned stormy. He snuffed out his cigarette with a hard flick and headed straight back to the private room.

After seeing Frank and his team out, Sophia finally breathed a huge sigh of relief.

May came over, a little awkward, and grabbed Sophia’s hand. “Sweetie, are you mad at me? It’s my fault. But honestly, Frank was so genuine about it. I couldn’t turn him down.”

Sophia rubbed her forehead and sighed, “May, I’m not mad at you. I just really don’t want to think about any of this right now. I’ve got Lucas, and that’s enough for me. So next time, please don’t set me up like this, okay?”

May realized Sophia truly wasn’t happy this time, so she rushed to comfort her, swearing up and down it wouldn’t happen again.

They ditched the conversation and started joking around as they strolled toward the parking lot, but hadn’t gone far before May suddenly stopped short, catching sight of a familiar silhouette up ahead.

She was totally stunned. “Wait, Sophia-look! Isn’t that Stella?”

Sophia looked in the direction May pointed, and saw Stella caught in a steamy kiss with some guy, her clothes practically falling off, the whole scene way too X-rated for public. She couldn’t even begin to describe it in just a couple of words.
