Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 86

86 Chapter 86

86.Chapter 86

Once Sophia got in the car, her panic slowly faded away. She slipped off the suit jacket from her shoulders and folded it carefully. “Frank, thank you for what you did back there,’ she said softly.

Frank smiled gently. “Come on, Sophia, you know you don’t have to thank me

Sophia went quiet.

“Headed back to Crestview?” Frank asked.

“Yeah,” Sophia said. Feeling the awkward silence in the car, Sophia decided to break it. “Frank, what were you doing at the Maritime Authority today?”

Frank explained while driving, “My family’s company has two international trading branches that recently signed contracts with Maritime Authority. All our exports will go through here. I came to handle some paperwork. I happened to see you as I was leaving.”

Sophia nodded, finally understanding.

“By the way, Charles has a pretty bad rep around Jenston. I’ve also heard he’s pretty close with some sketchy people. Next time something like today happens, promise me you’ll call the cops right away, Frank said. “Got it, thanks, Frank,” Sophia replied.

When they pulled up outside the Crestview Group building, Sophia got out and politely said goodbye to Frank. Frank got out as well and walked over to her. “Uh, Sophia, I—”

Before he could finish, Sophia’s phone rang. “Sorry, Frank. That’s work calling. Let’s catch up later.”

Frank watched her walk away, disappointment clouding his eyes. As Frank turned to get back in his car, he caught sight of a black, limited-edition Rolls-Royce parked across the street.

Though he couldn’t make out the driver, that flashy license plate was impossible to miss. It screamed status, and in the whole of Jenston, there was only one person with that kind of ride. Frank just brushed it off and drove away.

Easton rolled down his window, revealing the sharp, chiseled side of his face-cold and intimidating. He lit up a cigarette, holding it casually between his fingers as smoke curled around him, obscuring his expression in a swirl of haze.

This was the second time he’d spotted Sophia and Frank together. “Let’s go,” he said, voice cold and commanding.

By the time Sophia wrapped up her meeting with the clients, it was already seven in the evening. She’d planned to grab dinner with them, but they had a flight to catch, so she arranged for a driver to take them to the airport.

Just as she was about to leave, Julian knocked and walked in.

‘Julian, you’re still here this late?” Sophia asked.

Julian walked over, carrying a bag. “Annie’s in Jenston. She called me, but I’ve got a really important online meeting tonight and can’t get away. Could you go keep her company for me?”

Sophia smiled. “Sure, no problem.”

“Here, I bought her some daily stuff. Can you take these along, too?” Julian said.

Sophia took the bag from him, giving a sly smile. “Wow, Julian, didn’t think you had such a caring side.”

Julian reached out and tapped her forehead gently, a soft smile on his face. “Go on, then.” He sent Sophia the hotel’s location and Annie’s number.

Following the directions, Sophia arrived at the hotel. She pulled out her phone and called Annie. “Hey, Annie, it’ s Sophia. I’m at the hotel entrance. Which room are you in?”

“Sophia, I’m right behind you,” Annie replied.

86 Chapter 86

Sophia turned around, still holding her phone, and saw Annie standing just a few steps away-along with a man standing right beside her.

He looked so outrageously handsome, almost unreal. Those deep, familiar eyes practically demanded attention every time Sophia looked at him.

Maybe it was just the lighting, but his facial lines seemed unusually gentle tonight. Still, that teasing, not-quite- a-smile on his lips couldn’t be hidden, drawing everyone’s gaze right to him.

Annie walked over and slipped her arm through Sophia’s, shooting a glance at the man behind her as she gently explained, “Sophia, I’m so sorry. It’s my first time in Jenston, and my mom was nervous. She knows Julian’s super busy, so she called Easton.

“He happened to be close by, so he came to help out.”

‘Just happened to be close by? As if. Who does he think he’s fooling?’ Sophia snarked to herself.

Sophia gave Easton a cool glance and then smiled at Annie, a teasing edge in her tone. “Honestly, Julian should be apologizing. He knew you were coming and didn’t tell me, or at least he could’ve rescheduled his meeting.”
