Chapter 21 You’re Really Good at Pretending
“Well, well… look who it is.”
A sharp, mocking voice cut through the boutique.
“Isn’t that Amelia–the broke little nobody?
“Since when do people like you shop in places like this? bet you can’t even afford the hangers.”
Amelia didn’t even need to turn around to know who it was.

Brittany strutted into the store, arms loaded with designer shopping bags, her high heels clicking loudly against the floor like she owned the place.
Behind her limped Sophia, her injured leg still wrapped in bandages. Megan followed close behind, looking just as smug.
Amelia closed her eyes for a second.
Unbelievable.
She must have picked the worst possible day to leave the house.
Why do these three pests show up everywhere?
She turned slowly, crossing her arms.
“Sophia,” Amelia said lazily, “are the three of you conjoined twins or something?
“You show up together everywhere.”
She paused, then added sweetly, “Just curious… when you go to the bathroom, do you all squat over the same toilet too?”
For a second-
Silence fell over the store.
Brittany’s arrogant expression froze instantly.
“You-!”
Her face turned bright red,
“You country bumpkin! What kind of disgusting nonsense are you talking about?
“And you still have the nerve to show your face after what you did to Sophia?” Brittany snapped angrily. “Look at her leg! You’re a vicious woman!”
Megan jumped in immediately.
“Exactly! Someone like you, fresh out of the countryside could never afford clothes here.”
Her eyes narrowed suspiciously.

“Unless you stole the money.”
Sophia gently tugged on Megan’s sleeve, putting on her usual soft, pitiful expression.
“Megan… please don’t say that about Amelia.
“She may hate me… but she’s still my
sister.”
As she spoke, she deliberately shifted her body so everyone could see the thick bandage wrapped around her calf.
The injury she thought was a fracture had turned out to be just a dislocation.
But in her mind-
It was still all Amelia’s fault.
Amelia felt her stomach churn.
She almost gagged.
Sophia was unbelievable.
Always playing the innocent angel.
Always acting like the perfect victim.
Amelia suddenly smiled.
“Sophia,” she said sweetly, “do you carry a full acting kit around with you everywhere?”
Sophia blinked in confusion.
“W–what?”
Amelia snorted.
“Because wow.
“You’re really good at pretending.”
Standing nearby with a mountain of clothes in her arms Lily couldn’t hold it in anymore.
A small laugh escaped her.
Sophia’s face instantly turned dark,
Her hands clenched into fists as she glared at Amelia,
“Amelia,” she said through gritted teeth, “I’m always defending you, always protecting you.”
“Why do you have to insult me like this?”
“Laughing? What’s so funny?!”
Brittany suddenly stormed forward.

Before anyone could react, she snatched the pile of clothes straight out of Lily’s arms and shoved her hard.
“Ah-!”
Lily lost her balance and crashed onto the floor.
Her elbow scraped against the ground, tearing the skin open instantly. Blood began to seep out.
But she didn’t dare make a sound.
“You shameless little nobody,” Brittany sneered. “You think she deserves clothes this nice?”
She tossed the garments onto the counter.
“Brenda! Get over here!
“Pack all of these
up
for me!”
From the back room, Brenda hurried out.
The moment she saw Sophia-
Her wrinkled face instantly broke into a wide, flattering smile.
“Oh my goodness! Sophia!
“You’re one of our VIP customers!”
She eagerly scooped up the pile of clothes without hesitation.
“I’ll pack these up right away and have them delivered straight to the Bennett residence!”
Brenda beamed as she hugged the expensive clothes to her chest, clearly thrilled.
Amelia watched as Brenda gathered up the pile of clothes–her clothes–and completely ignored her
existence.
Something inside her snapped,
“Hey.”
Her voice cut through the store, sharp and cold.
“If you’re going to act like someone’s lapdog, at least pick the right moment.”
She pointed at the clothes in Brenda’s arms.
“I picked those first,”
Brenda turned around slowly and rolled her eyes in exaggerated disgust.
“Sophia is one of our VIP customers,” she said smugly. “And you?”
Her gaze swept over Amelia’s simple dress.

“You’re just a broke nobody. Why are you even making scene here?”
Amelia’s temper finally ignited.
She crossed her arms, her expression turning icy.
“So this is how DN treats its customers?” she asked calmly.
Behind her, Lily had already struggled to her feet.
Despite the pain in her bleeding elbow, she gathered he courage and spoke up.
“Brenda… those clothes really were chosen by this lady first.”
“Shut up!”
Brenda’s scream echoed through the boutique.
“You’re just an intern! What right do you have to tell me how to do my job?
“Get out of my way!”
Brittany laughed loudly from the side, enjoying every second of the humiliation.
“I don’t want to breathe the same air as some poor trash she sneered.
Then she turned to Brenda.
“Why are you still standing there?
“Throw this woman out already!”
Brenda didn’t hesitate.
She immediately waved toward the entrance.
“Security!”
A moment later, a large security guard stepped into the store and walked straight toward Amelia,
He forced a stiff smile,
“Miss, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
Sophia stood quietly behind the others, watching everything unfold.
Inside, she was thrilled.
Perfect.
Bringing Brittany and Megan shopping today had been he right decision.
Those two idiots might be loud and brainless–but they made excellent attack dogs.
Meanwhile, Amelia didn’t move an inch.

She stood there calmly, her back straight, her posture proud.
Not the slightest trace of fear appeared on her face.
Her crimson lips curved slightly as she looked directly a Brenda.
“You know,” Amelia said
ftly, almost lazily, “my greatest weakness is that I’m too kind.”
She tilted her head.
“So I’ll give you one last chance.”
Her voice dropped, turning cold as ice.
“Are you absolutely sure… You want to kick me out?”

Brenda met gaze–and suddenly felt her heart drop.
A strange chill crawled up from the soles of her feet, spreading through her entire body.
