Chapter 221 A Trap Is Set
It’s actually pretty damn ironic. The family affection I could never get from the Bennetts is practically overflowing everywhere else!
“Yes, Mr. Thorne.”

Amelia replied sweetly. Just as she picked up her skirt to walk toward Harrison, her wrist was suddenly caught in a vice grip. Then, her small frame was yanked backward, crashing right into Ace’s chest.
“Well, it looks like my fiancée loves throwing herself at me.” Ace gripped Amelia’s shoulder with one hand, his other hand reaching to caress her cheek.
A wave of sheer physical and mental revulsion hit Amelia, Pure reflex took over, and she slapped Ace’s pale face as hard as she could.
Smack!
“Gasp!”
A crisp, echoing slap followed by the collective gasp of the crowd rang through the air. Amelia glared at him, her face icy. “If you ever put your filthy hands on me again, a slap will be the least of your worries!”
The slap carried so much force that a trickle of blood appeared at the corner of Ace’s mouth. He licked the blood off his lip, not angry at all. In fact, he smirked.
“Spicy. I love women like you!”
“Psycho!” Amelia frowned deeply and took several steps back.
He has such a gorgeous face, so why does he talk and act like a complete psycho?
Sebastian hadn’t shown up yet, and Harrison couldn’t let things spiral out of control.
Ace’s identity was highly sensitive. If this blew up, it would look bad for the Thornes, and opportunists could easily twist the story.
So, he turned to Ace. “Mr. Sinclair, if you want to stay for the banquet, you are more than welcome. But if you insist on causing a scene, I’ll have no choice but to throw you out.”
“Of course I’m here for the banquet. I lost my composure just now. I apologize to Ms. Bennett.”
Ace’s sick, obsessive gaze never left Amelia. He looked like a venomous snake in a dark swamp locking onto its prey–cold, disgusting, and completely twisted!

Amelia absolutely hated that feeling, which only fueled her utter disgust for Ace.
I swear to God, if Ace tries anything again. I’ll put him in the ICU!
“Alright, alright, everyone break it up. The banquet is starting soon.”
After saying that, Harrison turned and walked upstairs with a few close friends, casually ordering his bodyguards, “Keep eyes on Ace. If he makes a move, take him down immediately!”
“Yes, Mr. Thorne,”
The little drama ended, and people went back to chatting with their friends. But with Ace’s arrival, the entire mansion was suffused with a dangerous tension. Everyone looked visibly on edge.
Amelia dragged Selena into a corner to eat cake. “Who the hell is that Ace guy? Your dad looked really wary of him.”
Selena popped a cherry into her mouth, frowning as she explained, “Ace is infamous abroad. He’s a ruthless mafia boss who does all kinds of dirty work. I heard his uncle died recently, so now he inherited the family business. Stay far away from him. I’m pretty sure he’s mentally
unstable.”
“If his brain wasn’t broken, would he just walk up and call me his fiancée?”
Amelia thought about it and felt something was seriously off. A guy of Ace’s level wouldn’t just randomly show up in Cynetia. There has to be a conspiracy!
Just then, a Thorne family maid called Selena away, saying Coral needed her.
Amelia sat on the couch, bored out of her mind, playing on her phone while keeping an eye on the party.
“Ms. Bennett, the madam asked me to bring this to you. Once you finish drinking it, please follow me to the art studio in the back. She has something to discuss with you.”
Amelia didn’t recognize the maid, but didn’t notice anything suspicious either. She downed the juice in one gulp and stood up. “What does Mrs. Thorne want?”
“She didn’t say. Please follow me.”
The maid led the way, a sinister, triumphant gleam hidden beneath her polite smile.
The Thorne estate was built into the mountainside. Rumor had it there was a private helipad, a golf course, and even a botanical garden out back.

Walking past the massive swimming pool, the maid led Amelia through a maze of corridors until they finally stopped in front of a secluded door.
