Chapter 37 The Weight of a Sterling Promise

Lucas glared at Amelia. “Exactly. If anyone tries to kick you out, they’ll have to go through me first!”
Amelia watched their “protective” act with nothing but irony.
It seemed the squeaky wheel really did get the grease.
Sophia spent every day putting on a show, and these brothers, as thick–headed as pigs, were more than happy to play their parts.
Sophia probably thought a few more tears would make the family forgive her everything.
Too bad Amelia wasn’t playing along.
“Are you three done with your little soap opera? Apologize already. I’ve got places to be.”
Today, Sophia was hitting the floor, one way or another.
Sophia turned deathly pale, her nails digging into her palms.

Julian didn’t dare cross Sebastian, but he found the nerve to mutter, “Mr. Sterling, this is a family matte Aren’t you overstepping?”
“Family matter?”
Sebastian adjusted his glasses, one arm sliding around Amelia’s waist in a clear claim of ownership.
“Amelia is my fiancée. Her business is my business. Forcing her to kneel is just the start. I could wipe the Bennetts off the map in a heartbeat if I felt like it.”
Julian ground his teeth in fury but couldn’t find a comeback. He could only lower his head in shame.

He didn’t even bother giving Alexander a polite out. He simply signaled his security. “From now on, the Bennetts are barred from all my events. Except for Amelia, of course!”
The guards walked up to Sophia, looking down at her coldly. “Miss Sophia Bennett, I’m going to have to ask you to leave.”
Lucas turned scarlet. He pointed a finger at Harrington and shouted, “You old geezer! I only came here to give you face, and you’re tossing me out like a dog?”
Harrington didn’t even look at him as he turned and walked away.
Lucas was unceremoniously hauled out by his arms, his eyes still burning with hatred for Amelia as he hissed,
“Amelia, you just wait!”
With the trash cleared out, Amelia felt a wave of relief. She sat back down and went right back to enjoying her pastries.
Sebastian saw that her mood hadn’t been ruined. He smirked and sat down right next to her.
