Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 13
CHAPTER 10-2
Jace didn’t interrupt me. He just simply listened. It was becoming obvious he was very good at
that so I looked back at him.
“What about you?” I asked.
“What about me?” He shrugged.
“You don’t strike me as someone who accidentally woke up wearing an Iron Vipers cut.” I said and
that earned a laugh.
“No. I joined when I was 19.” He said.
“Seriously?” I asked.
“My father was a member.” He nodded.
“So you inherited the family business?” I asked.
“Something like that.” He said and he rested his coffee on the table.
“My dad died when I was 20.” He said.
“I’m sorry.” I said.
“He taught me that loyalty matters. The club helped my mom after he passed. They made sure we never struggled.” He said.
“So that’s why you stayed.” I frowned.
“It wasn’t about motorcycles. It was about people.” He said.
His answer surprised me and if I was honestly, everything about the club kept surprising me.
I’d expected loud arguments, constant drinking and expected chaos. Instead I’d found Sunday dinners, children, people fixing leaking taps and a club president who apparently delivered coffee instead of speeches.
“I’ve been wrong about you.” I said.
The words left my mouth before I could stop them and he looked at me.
“About me?” He asked.
“All of you. I thought biker clubs were just…angry men making poor life choices.” I said and then
Hunter’s face suddenly popped into my head.
“Actually, Hunter still qualifies.” I added and Jace laughed.
“I’ll tell him you said that.” Jace said.
“You absolutely will not.” I said.
“He’ll enjoy it.” Jace said.
“I know he will. That’s why you’re not going to tell him.” I said.
The apartment filled with quiet laughter again and somewhere during the conversation the sky outside had darkened completely.
Neither of us had noticed and I glanced at the clock on the wall.
“We’ve been talking for nearly two hours.” I said.
“So we have.” He said.
