Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 180
CHAPTER 107-2
“Why would she?” He asked.
“Because Paige is becoming successful.” I said and Charles looked back at me.
“That doesn’t make sense.” He said.
“It does if Charlotte believes Paige is taking her place.” I said and his expression hardened.
“Nobody is taking anyone’s place.” He yelled.
“Then why are you so angry about Paige?” I asked but he didn’t answer and I stepped closer.
“She has her own business. She’s connected to the Iron Vipers. She’s building a life.” I said.
“She’s becoming dangerous.” He said.
“No. She’s becoming independent.” I said as I shook my head and Charles looked at me for several
seconds.
“You’ve completely fallen for her story.” He said as I felt my eyes burn.
“I met my daughter for coffee, and I saw a woman who was trying to make peace.” I said and he laughed.
“She’s manipulating you.” He said.
“She didn’t ask me for anything.” I said.
“She wants something.” He said.
“She wants peace.” I said and Charles stared at me.
“You believe that?” He asked.
“I do.” I said but he shook his head.
“I can’t believe this.” He said and then the kitchen door opened and Charlotte walked in.
She stopped when she saw us.
“What’s happening?” Charlotte asked and Charles turned toward her.
“Your mother has been meeting Paige.” Charles said and Charlotte’s expression immediately changed as she looked at me.
“You did what?” Charlotte asked as I stared at her.
“I met my daughter.” I said.
“Why?” She asked.
“Because I wanted to.” I said and Charlotte looked toward Charles.
“I told you this would happen.” Charlotte said and my stomach tightened.

“What exactly did you tell him?” I asked and she tooked confused.
“About what?” Charlotte asked.
“About Paige.” I said and Charlotte sighed.
“That she was manipulating you.” Charlotte said and I watched her carefully.
“How do you know that?” I asked.
“Because I know her.” She said.
“No. You don’t.” I said as I shook my head and Charlotte’s expression hardened.
“You always defend her.” Charlotte said.
“And you always blame her.” I said.
“Because she’s taken everything.” Charlotte said.
“Everything?” I asked as I stepped closer.
“What has Paige taken from you?” I asked and Charlotte opened her mouth but then she stopped.
I saw something in her expression. Something I hadn’t noticed before. Anger.
Not ordinary anger. Something deeper. Possessive.
“You’ve changed.” Charlotte whispered.
“No. I’ve just started paying attention.” I said and Charlotte looked at Charles.
“Are you going to let her speak to me like this?” Charlotte asked and Charles stepped between us.
“Enough.” Charles said.

The argument continued for another hour, and by the time I finally left the kitchen, I was exhausted.
I walked upstairs and closed my bedroom door. I sat on the edge of the bed and stared at the floor.
For years, I had trusted Charlotte because she was my daughter. I had defended her because I thought that was what mothers were supposed to do.
But now I couldn’t ignore what I had seen. The expensive jewellery. The sudden money. The secrecy. The way she always seemed to know things before anyone else.
The way she had immediately known about my meeting with Paige.
I hadn’t told her.
Charles hadn’t known until Charlotte told him and I stood and walked toward the window.
Across the street, Charlotte’s car was parked near the curb.
She hadn’t said she was staying so I watched as she sat inside for several minutes before finally driving away.

Something wasn’t right. I walked back to my desk and pulled out my phone and I opened my messages,
There were several conversations with Charlotte from the past few weeks and I read through them slowly.
Then I stopped because one message caught my attention.
Don’t worry, Mom. Paige won’t be a problem for much longer.
I stared at the words and I remembered receiving it two weeks ago.
