Summary for Chapter 183: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 183

CHAPTER 109-1

Jace’s POV

The security alert from the night before hadn’t turned into an attack, but it hadn’t been a false alarm either, and by sunrise, Derek had confirmed that someone had broken into one of our salvage yards on the edge of town.

I showered quickly, brushed my teeth, pulled on fresh jeans and a black shirt, and grabbed my jacket before heading downstairs.

The clubhouse was already awake, and the smell of coffee filled the kitchen while Mason stood near the counter looking half asleep.

Derek was staring at his phone with a serious expression.

“What do we know?” I asked as he looked up.

“Someone forced the side gate sometime after midnight.” He said.

“Anything stolen?” I asked.

“Not much.” He said.

“Define not much.” I said.

“Two batteries, some scrap parts, and a set of tools.” He said and I looked at him.

“That’s it?” I asked.

“That’s all we’ve found missing.” He said and Mason walked toward us with his coffee.

“Maybe they weren’t there to steal.” Mason said and I nodded.

“That’s what I’m thinking.” I said as Derek turned his phone toward me.

“The cameras were deliberately damaged.” Derek said as I studied the photographs.

“All of them?” I asked.

“Every camera covering the main yard.” He said and my jaw tightened.

“Then whoever did this knew what they were doing.” I said and Derek nodded.

“They smashed the cameras first, and then they went inside.” Derek said so I grabbed my jacket.

“Let’s go.” I said.

The drive to the salvage yard took about twenty minutes, and I spent most of it thinking about the timing.

Someone had been watching us. Someone had already entered our motel room. Someone had targeted Lawson Customs with rumours.

Now someone had broken into one of our yards and deliberately destroyed the security system. The

pattern was becoming harder to ignore.

When we arrived, the gate was hanging open and I climbed out of the truck and looked around.

The yard contained rows of old motorcycles, damaged vehicles, spare parts, and equipment that we used for repairs.

Nothing looked obviously missing but Derek walked toward the main building.

“Door’s been forced.” Derek said and I followed him inside.

The place smelled like oil, metal, and dust, and the faint morning light came through the broken windows so Mason looked around.

“Whoever came in here wasn’t interested in making a mess.” Mason said.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Look.” Mason said.

He pointed toward several shelves. Some boxes had been moved, but most of the contents remained untouched and Derek walked toward a filing cabinet.

“This was opened.” Derek said and I stepped closer.

“What was inside?” I asked.

“Old inventory records.” He said and my expression hardened.

“Anything missing?” I asked.

“Not sure yet.” He said as I opened another cabinet.

“Check everything.” I said and Derek nodded.

We spent the next hour going through the yard. Nothing expensive had been taken. The motorcycles were still there. The engines were untouched. The newer tools remained locked away. Even several valuable parts had been ignored.

Whoever had broken in had been selective and that bothered me more than theft would have.

Paige arrived just before nine. I saw her truck pull through the gate, and my shoulders relaxed slightly.

She climbed out wearing jeans, boots, and a Lawson Customs shirt, and she immediately walked toward

“What happened?” She asked.

“Someone broke in overnight.” I said and she looked around.

“Was anyone hurt?” She asked.

“No.” I said.

“Good.” He said as she glanced toward the damaged cameras.
