Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 203
CHAPTER 119-1
Claim
I couldn’t stop staring at the tiny black device beneath my desk, because knowing someone had planted it there made every conversation I’d ever had inside the office suddenly feel exposed.
Derek arrived within minutes, and the first thing he did was tell everyone to step away from the desk.
“Nobody touches it.” Derek said and Mia folded her arms.
“Can you get it out?” Mia asked.
“I can, but I want to preserve anything useful first.” Derek said.
Jace stood beside me, and I could feel the tension coming off him.
Derek crouched beneath the desk and examined the device without touching it.
“It has its own power source, and whoever installed it wanted it to stay hidden.” Derek said.
“Can you tell who planted it?” I asked.
“Not from the device itself.” He said.
He carefully removed the wire and placed the device inside an evidence bag.
Ethan arrived shortly afterward, carrying his laptop and a small equipment case and he looked at the
device.
“That’s not something you buy at a hardware store.” Ethan said as Derek nodded.
“Can you pull anything from it?” Derek asked.
“I can try.” Ethan said.
Ethan sat at the desk, connected his equipment, and began examining the device while the rest of us waited.
I hated standing there. I hated knowing someone had been listening. I hated even more that Lawson Customs had become part of this mess.
“I did this.” I said as Jace looked at me.
“What?” He asked as I gestured toward the office.
“If I hadn’t become involved with the club, none of this would have happened.” I said as his expression immediately hardened.
“Don’t say that.” He said.
“But it’s true.” I said.
“No, it isn’t.” He said and I looked away.
“The garage was just a garage before all of this.” I said.

“And it’s still your business.” He said.
“But now people are watching it.” I said.
“Because somebody made that decision, Paige.” He said as he stepped closer.
“You didn’t.” He added.
“I should have seen it coming.” I said.
“You couldn’t have.” He said.
“I should have known.” I said.
“You couldn’t have known.” He said as his voice softened.
“This isn’t your fault.” He added as I looked at him.
“You promise?” I asked.
“I promise.” He said.
Ethan suddenly spoke from behind the computer.
“I’ve got something.” Ethan said and we all turned as he looked at the screen.
“The device recorded audio, but the storage is limited.” He added.
“How much?” Derek asked.
“Not much, and it appears to have been set to overwrite old recordings.” Ethan said as my stomach tightened.
“Can you recover anything?” I asked.
“I’m working on it.” He said as he continued examining the files.
“There are several recordings from the last few days.” Ethan said as Jace crossed his arms.
“What did they hear?” Jace asked.
Ethan listened to several clips through his headphones.
“Mostly normal conversations.” Ethan said and I breathed out.
“Anything about the club?” I asked and he shook his head.
“Not really.” He said as he checked another recording.
“Most of this is customer information, invoices, repair schedules, parts orders, and general conversations.” Ethan said and I looked at Jace.
“Thank God.” I said and Ethan nodded.
“You were lucky.” Ethan said.
