Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 213
CHAPTER 124-1
I didn’t sleep much after Charlotte’s message, because every time I closed my eyes, I saw the words again.
Don’t trust anyone, Paige.
Then the second message.
Especially the people closest to you.
It should have scared me more than it did, but mostly, it made me angry.
Charlotte had spent weeks making things worse, and now she suddenly wanted me to believe she was frightened?
I wasn’t buying it.
My phone sat on the nightstand, and sometime after midnight, it started ringing again.
Charlotte.
I stared at the screen until the call stopped. A few minutes later, she called again. But I ignored it again.
Another call followed, and then another, but I refused to answer.
Eventually, I turned my phone face down and tried to sleep.
By morning, I had made my decision. I wasn’t calling Charlotte back.
I showered, brushed my teeth, got dressed, and headed downstairs, where Jace was already drinking coffee and he looked at me.
“Did you sleep?” He asked.
“Not really.” I said.
“Charlotte?” He asked and I nodded.
“She called several times.” I said.
“What did you do?” He asked.
“I ignored her.” I said as Jace leaned back.
“Good.” He said and I looked at him.
“You don’t think I should hear her out?” I asked.
“I think she’s caused enough problems.” He said.
“That’s what I thought.” I said.
He reached across the table and squeezed my hand.

If she has something important to say, she can say it through the police.” He said and I nodded.
“Exactly. I said.
We ate breakfast together, and then we treaded to Lawson Customs.
The morning started normally, because Ben was already working on an engine and Mia was sorting through customer appointments and tried to focus on work.
For the next couple of hours, I managed. Then heard the front door open and I looked up just as Charlotte walked inside.
Clare
My stomach tightened immediately as she looked nothing like the woman I had confronted weeks earlier.
Her hair was messy, her clothes were wrinkled, and she kept glancing toward the windows.
She looked frightened. Actually frightened and Mia looked at me.
“Do you want me to get Jace?” Mia asked and I nodded.
“Please.” I said as Charlotte approached the desk.
“Paige.” She said as I crossed my arms.
“You shouldn’t be here.” I said.
“I know.” She said.
“Then why are you?” I asked and she looked behind her.
“Because I need to talk to you.” She said.
“You already called me.” I said.
“I know.” She said.
“I didn’t answer.” I said.
“I know that too.” She said as her voice trembled and I studied her carefully.
“Why should I listen now?” I asked.
“Because Victor knows.” She said and my stomach tightened.
“Knows what?” I asked.
“That I’ve been talking to you.” She said and I stared at her.
“We haven’t been talking. What did you tell him?” I asked.
“Nothing.” She said but I didn’t believe her.
“Charlotte.” I said.
“I swear.” She said as she stepped closer.

Clarm
didn’t tell him about your conversation with Victoria and I didn’t tell him anything useful about you.” She added as I looked at Mia.
She was also watching Charlotte carefully.
“You’ve been working with Victor.” I said.
“I was.” She said.
“Was?” I asked.
“I didn’t understand what he was.” She said and I almost laughed.
“You didn’t understand?” I asked.
“He seemed different at first.” She said.
“He threatened my business.” I said.
