Summary for Chapter 218: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 218

CHAPTER 126-2

“Deal.” He said as he held out his hand and I shook it.

“Look at you.” I said.

“What?” He asked.

“Taking responsibility.” I said and he smiled.

“Don’t get emotional.” He said.

“I wasn’t.” I said.

“You were thinking about it.” He said and I laughed.

“Maybe.” I said.

By lunchtime, Ryan and Tyler were learning the workshop layout, and Ben was showing them where everything belonged.

Mia had taken over the office completely, because she had created a new booking system that kept customers organized while making sure we didn’t overbook ourselves.

She sat behind the desk with two phones ringing while she typed information into the computer and I walked over.

“Need help?” I asked but she shook her head.

“I’ve got it.” She said.

“You’re sure?” I asked.

“Paige, go look at the renovation plans.” She said.

“What?” I asked and she pointed toward the folder under my arm.

“You’ve been carrying those plans around for three days.” She said and I smiled.

“Fine.” I said.

The neighboring workshop had been sitting vacant for years, and buying it had seemed almost impossible when I’d first started looking into the idea.

Now the loan was moving forward, the paperwork was progressing, and the council application was the final major hurdle.

The plan was simple enough. We would connect the two buildings, expand the workshop floor, create a dedicated restoration area, add more storage, and build a proper customer waiting area.

The extra space would mean we could take more jobs without turning the existing workshop into complete chaos.

I spread the plans across the office table and Ben wandered over.

“What’s the latest?” He asked.

Still waiting on the council.” I said and he looked at the drawings.

“That’s going to be huge.” He said.

“That’s the idea.” I said.

“You nervous?” He asked./

“A little.” I said.

“Why?” He asked.

“Because this isn’t just a small upgrade.” I said.

I traced my finger across the proposed floor plan.

“This changes everything.” I said and Ben nodded.

“You’ve earned it.” He said and I smiled.

“Thanks.” I said

The afternoon passed in a blur of engines, customers, paperwork, and phone calls.

One customer arrived to collect a restored motorcycle, and another dropped off an old bike that had belonged to his father.

The stories attached to the motorcycles were becoming just as important as the machines themselves.

That was something I loved about the business. People weren’t only bringing us metal and rubber. They were bringing us memories.

By five, I was exhausted.

I washed my hands at the sink, changed into a clean shirt, and walked outside while Mia locked the office as Jace was waiting beside his motorcycle.

“You look tired.” Jace said.

“I am.” I said and he smiled.

“Busy?” He asked.

“Ridiculously busy.” I said.

“That’s good.” He said.

“It is, but we’re going to need a bigger building.” I said as he raised an eyebrow.

“You’re still thinking about the expansion?” He asked.

“I’m not thinking about it anymore. I’m planning it.” I said as I held up the folder and Jace smiled.

“That’s my girl.” He said as I rolled my eyes.

“Don’t make it sound easy.” I said.

It will be.” He said.

“How do you know? Lasked.

“Because you always figure things out.” He said as I looked at him.

“That’s a lot of pressure.” I said.

“It’s a compliment.” He said and I smiled.

“Fine.” I said and he leaned closer and kissed me.

“How did the new mechanics go?” He asked.

“Good.” I said.

“And Ben?” He asked.

“He wants more responsibility.” I said and Jace smiled.

“He’s earned it.” He said.

“He has.” I said.

We headed back inside for a few minutes because I needed to finish some paperwork and Jace stayed with me while I reviewed invoices.

By the time we left, the sun was setting over town and I locked the front door and checked it twice before joining him.

The next morning, I arrived early again, because apparently success had turned sleeping in into a distant memory and Mia was already inside, and she waved me over.

“You’ve got mail.” Mia said.

“Anything exciting?” I asked.

“Maybe.” She said as she handed me an envelope.

The return address belonged to the town council and my heart immediately started pounding.

“Is that what I think it is?” I asked and Mia smiled.

“Open it.” She said.

I tore the envelope open, and my eyes moved over the first few lines. Then I stopped and I read them again as Mia watched my face.

“Paige?” She asked and I looked up slowly.

“They approved it.” I said.

“What?” She asked.

“The expansion.” I said and her eyes widened.

“You’re kidding” She said as I shook my head.

“No.” I said.

She rushed around the desk and hugged me and I laughed as I hugged her back.
