Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 225
CHAPTER 130-1
Claim
The community center was nearly empty by the time I stepped outside, because most of the guests had already gone home and the volunteers were beginning to clear the tables.
I slipped my coat over my shoulders while Jace spoke with Mason near the motorcycles, and for a few minutes, I simply stood beneath the porch light and enjoyed the quiet.
The night had been good and it had been normal I hadn’t realized how badly I needed that until I had finally experienced it.
Then I heard footsteps behind me.
“Paige.” Someone said so I turned.
Charlotte stood several feet away and my body immediately tensed.
“You came.” I said and she nodded.
“I needed to talk to you.” She said and I glanced toward Jace, but Charlotte noticed.
“Privately.” She added and I didn’t like the sound of that.
“What do you want?” I asked.
She looked nervous, and for once, there was no smugness in her expression.
“I wanted to apologize.” She said as I stared at her.
“For what?” I asked.
“For everything.” She said as I crossed my arms.
“That’s a long list.” I said.
“I know.” She said as she took a breath.
“I know I’ve hurt you, and I know I’ve made things worse.” She said.
“You have.” I said.
“I was angry.” She said.
“I know.” I said.
“I thought I deserved things that weren’t mine.” She said and I watched her carefully.
“What changed?” I asked as she looked down.
“I finally realized that I was destroying everything around me.” She said.
Her voice sounded sincere, and despite myself, I felt some of the anger loosen.
“I don’t expect you to forgive me.” She said.
CHAPTER 1204-
“Good” I said and she gave a small, sad smile.
I just wanted to say that I’m sorry.” She said and I studied her face.
There was fear there. There was regret and at least, I thought there was.

For the first time since this mess had started, I wondered if Charlotte might actually be trying to change.
“You look tired.” I said.
“I am.” She said.
“Victor?” I asked and she nodded.
“He doesn’t trust me anymore.” she said.
“Why should he?” I asked and she looked at me.
“Because I never betrayed him.” She said and I frowned.
“Then why are you here?” I asked.
“Because I don’t want to become like him.” She said.
That answer caught me off guard and Charlotte took another step closer.
“I’ve made mistakes, Paige, but I don’t want anyone getting hurt.” she said and I looked toward the parking
lot.
Jace was still talking with Mason and neither of them appeared to be paying attention to us.
“Are you really sorry?” I asked and Charlotte nodded.
“Yes.” She said and I sighed.
“I don’t know if I can forgive you.” I said.
“I understand.” She said.
“But I appreciate the apology.” I said and her shoulders relaxed slightly.
“Thank you.” She said.
“Can I ask you something?” Charlotte asked and the warmth disappeared from my chest.
“What?” I asked as she hesitated.
“Your uncle’s journals.” She said as I stared at her.
“What about them?” I asked.
“I heard you still have them.” She said and my stomach tightened.
“Who told you?” I said.
“No one.” She said.

“Then how do you know?” I asked and she looked uncomfortable.
I remembered you talking about them.” She said.
“When?” I said.
