Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 226

CHAPTER 130-2

“Charlotte.” I said and she looked back at me.

“Why do you care about Uncle Will’s journals?” I asked.

“I don’t.” She said.

“Then why did you ask?” I asked.

She opened her mouth, but no answer came and I stepped backward.

“You weren’t apologizing.” I said and her face changed.

“That’s not true.” She said.

“You wanted information.” I said.

“I was curious.” She said.

“You asked about his journals within five minutes of apologizing.” I said.

“I didn’t mean anything by it.” She said.

“Then you won’t mind when I tell you you’re not seeing them.” I said and her jaw tightened.

“I never asked to see them.” She said.

“You asked what’s in them.” I said.

“That’s different.” She said.

“No, it isn’t.” I said and she sighed.

“Paige, I was trying to help.” She said.

“Then help yourself by staying away from my family and my business.” I said as her eyes hardened.

“You really think I’m still working with Victor?” She asked.

“I think you’ve lied to me before.” I said.

“I’m not lying now.” She said.

“You might not be working for him, but that doesn’t mean you’re suddenly trustworthy.” I said and she looked hurt.

“I came here to make peace.” She said.

“And then you asked about the journals.” I said.

“I made a mistake.” She said.

“Maybe.” I said as I looked toward the parking lot.

Inced to go.” I said but she stepped closer

“Paige.” She said as I turned.

“What?” I asked.

“Please be careful with those journals.” She said and I stared at her.

“Why?” I asked as she hesitated again.

“Because some information is dangerous.” She said and that sent a chill through me.

“How do you know that?” I asked.

“I just do.” She said.

“You’ve seen something.” I said but she shook her head.

“No.” She said.

“Charlotte.” I said.

“I haven’t seen them.” She said.

“Then how do you know they’re dangerous?” I asked but she didn’t answer.

I waited and eventually, she looked away.

“I should go.” She said.

“Yes.” I said.

Chairs

She turned and walked toward her car. I watched her unlock the door, but before she climbed inside, she

looked back at me.

“I’m sorry.” She said but this time, I didn’t believe her.

She drove away without another word and Jace walked over moments later.

“What happened?” He asked as I looked at him.

“She asked about Uncle Will’s journals.” I said and his expression immediately changed.

“Why?” He asked.

“She claims she was curious.” I said.

“Do you believe her?” He asked and I shook my head.

“No.” I said as he glanced toward the road.

“What else did she say?” He asked.

“She told me to be careful with them because some information is dangerous.” I said and Jace frowned.

“That’s interesting.” He said.

CHAPTER 1

“That’s what I thought.” I said and he took my hand.

“Come on.” He said.

“Where?” I asked.

“Home.” He said and I nodded.

We said goodbye to the remaining members and headed back to the clubhouse.

The ride was quiet, because my mind was already going through everything I’d remembered about the journals.

Claim

When we arrived, I changed out of my dress, washed my face, and tied my hair back and Jace watched me from the doorway.

“What are you doing?” He asked.

“I’m going through the journals.” I said.

“Tonight?” He asked.

“Yes.” I said and he nodded.

“Then I’m helping.” He said.

We went downstairs, where I’d kept the journals stored safely and I placed them across the table.

There were several of them, and each one contained years of Uncle Will’s handwriting, notes, sketches, names, dates, and observations.

I had read pieces of them before, but I’d never studied them all together.

Tonight would be different so I opened the first journal and Jace sat beside me.

“What are you looking for?” He asked.

“I don’t know yet. That’s the problem.” I said as I turned the first page.

We started reading and most of the early entries were ordinary, because Uncle Will had written about motorcycle repairs, customers, business problems, and everyday life.

Then the entries became different. Names appeared. Locations appeared and references to people I didn’t recognize started showing up.

I turned another page. Then another and Jace leaned closer.

“Look at that.” Jace said as I followed his finger.

A name had been underlined three times.

“Who is that?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” He said so we kept reading.
