Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 232

CHAPTER 134-1

Sarah’s call had changed the mood at the clubhouse within seconds, because the laughter from Sunday afternoon was still hanging in the air while Jace stood near the kitchen door listening to whatever she was saying.

I couldn’t hear Sarah’s side of the conversation, but I could hear the seriousness in Jace’s voice.

“Are you sure?” He asked.

He paused.

“All right, we’ll meet you.” He said.

He ended the call and slipped his phone into his pocket and I stood from my chair.

“What did she say?” I asked.

“She wants to meet us.” He said.

“Us?” I asked.

“You.” He said and I frowned.

“Why?” I asked.

“She didn’t explain over the phone.” He said and Mason looked over from the grill.

“Everything okay?” Mason asked as Jace nodded.

“Yeah, but Sarah wants to talk.” Jace said.

Derek immediately understood that meant something serious.

“When?” Derek asked.

“Tomorrow morning.” Jace said and I looked at Jace.

“What about tonight?” I asked.

“She said tomorrow is safer.” He said.

That sentence stayed with me.

Safer.

There had been a time when I would have laughed at something like that, because meeting a police officer

to discuss a motorcycle club would have sounded ridiculous.

Now it sounded completely normal and I picked up my phone.

“Where?” I asked as Jace told me the location, and I saved it.

We spent the rest of the evening trying to return to normal, but I couldn’t stop wondering what Sarah

wanted to tell us.

By the time we went upstairs, the clubhouse had finally gone quiet.

I changed into pajamas after showering and brushing my teeth, while Jace checked the locks downstairs.

When he returned, I was sitting on the edge of the bed.

“You think it’s serious.” I said and he nodded.

“Probably.” He said.

“Do you think it has something to do with Victor?” I asked.

“Maybe.” He said and I sighed.

“I hate not knowing.” I said as he sat beside me.

“Sarah wouldn’t ask for a private meeting unless she had something important.” He said.

“Then tomorrow can’t come quickly enough.” I said and he kissed my forehead.

“Try to sleep.” He said.

“I’ll try.” I said but I didn’t sleep much.

The next morning, I woke before sunrise, because my mind had been running in circles all night.

Jace was already awake and he looked at me.

“You didn’t sleep.” He said.

“Not really.” I said and he smiled.

“Coffee?” He asked.

“Please.” I said.

I showered, brushed my teeth, and dressed while Jace made coffee downstairs.

We ate breakfast quickly, and then we left the clubhouse.

Sarah had chosen a small diner on the edge of town, because it was public enough to avoid suspicion while still being quiet during the early morning.

When we arrived, she was already sitting in a booth near the back and she looked tired.

Jace slid into the booth beside me and Sarah looked at both of us.

“Thank you for coming.” She said.

“What happened?” Jace asked and Sarah lowered her voice.

“I found something that concerns the old Black Reaper investigations.” She said and my stomach tightened.

“Victor?” I asked.

Not directly.” She said as she looked around before continuing.

“Evidence connected to several old investigations has been disappearing.” I said and Jace frowned.
