Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 245
CHAPTER 140-2
“Does Victor know you recorded him?” asked.
“I think so. I was careful but he suspected.” She said.
Another burst of gunfire forced us lower and Charlotte squeezed her phone.
“I didn’t even know if the recording worked until listened to part of it in the car.” She said.
“What did you hear?” I asked.
“Enough to know that Victor will do anything to get this phone.” She said and I looked at the device in her hand.
“Then we keep it safe.” I said.
Before she could respond, Jace shouted from across the workshop.
“They’re moving!” Jace yelled.
Everyone immediately became more alert and Derek leaned slightly around his cover.
“I can see headlights.” Derek said.
“Do not follow them.” Jace ordered and Mason looked toward him.
“They are pulling back.” Mason said.
“Let them.” Jace said.
The engines grew louder, and several motorcycles/accelerated away from the property.
The final rider fired one last shot toward the workshop before disappearing into the darkness.
The bullet struck the already damaged window frame, and then silence returned.
For several seconds, nobody moved.
The alarm continued screaming, and smoke or dust hung in the air while shattered glass covered the concrete floor and Jace slowly stood.
“Stay inside until the police arrive.” Jace said.
Sirens could already be heard in the distance and Ben opened the office door carefully.
“Everyone is okay.” Ben said and Mia stepped out behind him.
“The customers are shaken, but nobody is seriously hurt.” Mia said and I released the breath I had been holding.
“Thank God.” I said.
Diesel remained beside me, and I reached down to rub his head.
CHAPTER 1402
“You did good, boy.” I said.
Charm
He looked up at me before turning toward the broken window again and Derek walked toward the front of the workshop and surveyed the damage.
“One window is completely gone.” Derek said as I followed his gaze.
Several motorcycles had been damaged the wall beside the service bay was marked with bullet impacts, and glass was scattered across the floor.
“We just fixed that window.” I said as Jace came beside me.
“We will replace it.” Jace said.
“And the motorcycles?” I asked.
“We will repair them.” He said as I looked at him.
“You keep saying that.” I said.
“Because it is true.” He said.
Police vehicles pulled into the property, their lights flashing across the walls and broken glass, and officers quickly began securing the area.
Nobody from the club had been seriously injured, and that fact mattered more than the damage, although I knew the repairs would take time and money.
One of the customers approached me while an officer spoke with Ben.
“I am sorry this happened.” He said and I nodded.
“So am I.” I said.
“I still want you to work on my bike.” He said and the words caught me off guard.
“You do?” I asked as he nodded.
“After tonight, I trust you even more.” He said and I felt something tighten in my chest.
“Thank you.” I said.
After everything that had happened, that small statement reminded me why Lawson Customs mattered.
It was not only a building full of tools and motorcycles. It was something people believed in.
Jace returned to my side once the officers began taking statements, and his fingers found mine.
“You okay?” He asked.
“I will be.” I said as he squeezed my hand.
“Good.” He said and I looked toward Charlotte.
She had remained near the workbench throughout the chaos, and now she was staring at the phone in her hand so I walked toward her.
