Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 244

CHAPTER 140-1

“I have proof! I recorded everything!” Charlotte said.

Charlotte’s voice had barely left her mouth when another burst of gunfire erupted from the road, and I grabbed her by the arm before she could do anything else.

“Get inside!” I yelled.

I pulled her toward the workshop while Jace shouted orders behind us, and bullets struck the concrete walls as the Black Reapers opened fire on Lawson Customs.

We had already closed for the night, the last customers should have been gone, and the lights inside the workshop had been switched to their nighttime setting, but instead of locking the doors and heading home, we were now fighting to keep everyone alive.

Charlotte stumbled beside me as I dragged her through the workshop entrance.

“Keep your head down!” I yelled.

“I am trying!” She said.

A bullet smashed into the metal frame above us, and Charlotte cried out as I shoved her behind a heavy workbench.

Diesel raced after us, and he immediately pressed against my leg while growling toward the front of the building.

“Stay with me, boy.” I said.

Jace moved into position behind a large truck that was sitting near one of the service bays, and Derek dropped behind another vehicle while Mason took cover near the rear entrance.

“Nobody goes outside! Stay behind cover, and keep away from the windows!” Jace yelled and Ben appeared from the office doorway.

“The customers are still here!” Ben yelled.

“Get them into the back office.” Jace ordered.

Ben nodded and disappeared again.

Mia followed him, and within seconds, I heard her directing the frightened customers away from the windows.

“Everyone get down, and stay against the interior wall!” Mia said.

The sound of another bullet striking metal echoed through the workshop, and I crouched lower while Charlotte curled beside me.

“They came because of me.” She whispered as I looked at her.

“You brought them here, but you are not getting yourself killed tonight.” I said and she stared at me with wide eyes.

+ didn’t know where else to go.” She said.

“You came to the right place.” I said.

Another burst of gunfire erupted outside, and the Iron Vipers returned fire from behind their cover.

The noise inside the workshop was deafening, because every shot seemed to bounce off the walls and shake through my chest.

I looked toward Jace.

He remained calm despite the chaos, and that steadiness kept everyone from completely losing control.

“Derek, watch the left side.” Jace said.

“I’ve got it.” Derek said.

“Mason, stay on the rear.” Jace said.

“Already covered.” Mason said as Jace looked toward Ben.

“How many people are in the office?” Jace asked.

“Five customers, Mia, and me.” Ben said.

“Keep them there.” Jace said.

“I will.” He said.

I pressed my shoulder against the workbench and looked around the workshop.

This place had become my life, and seeing bullets tear into it made something inside me burn.

A motorcycle parked near the service bay suddenly jerked as a round struck its frame, and the machine tipped sideways into another bike.

“That was one of Uncle Will’s restorations.” I said.

Jace glanced toward the damaged motorcycles.

“We’ll fix them.” Jace said and another bullet punched through the wall.

“Assuming they stop trying to destroy everything.” I said.

“They will stop.” He said.

“You sound very confident.” I said.

“I am.” He said.

I almost laughed, although nothing about the situation was funny.

“You always do.” I said.

Jace gave me the smallest smile before his expression hardened again.
