Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 286
CHAPTER 162
She wasn’t wearing the expression she usually carried when she visited Lawson Customs, because there was something serious in her eyes as she walked toward the front door.
I met her halfway.
“Sarah.” I said.
“Paige.” She said as she glanced around the workshop before lowering her voice.
“Is Jace here?” She asked.
“No.” I said.
“Can you call him?” She asked so I reached for my phone.
“What happened?” I asked and Sarah hesitated.
“I need to tell both of you.” She said and my stomach tightened.
“Tell me now.” I said and she looked at me.
“I just received information about Victor.” She said as I waited.
“What kind of information?” I asked.
Sarah glanced toward the windows, as though she wanted to make certain nobody was listening.
“Something happened this morning.” She said and I frowned.
“What happened?” I asked as she took a slow breath.
“Victor didn’t disappear on his own.” She said as I stared at her.
“What does that mean?” I asked as Sarah’s expression remained serious.
“It means someone helped him disappear.” She said and the workshop suddenly seemed much quieter.
“Who?” I asked.
“We don’t know yet.” She said.
“Then what do you know?” I asked as Sarah looked directly into my eyes.
“We found evidence that Victor has been moving between properties connected to someone else.” She said and my pulse quickened.
“Someone else?” I asked as she nodded.
“And Paige, there’s something even more concerning.” She said as she lowered her voice.
“The name connected to those properties is not Victor’s.” She added.
“It belongs to someone we’ve been hearing about for weeks.” She continued as my fingers tightened around my phone.
“Mr. Black?” I asked.

Did you find anything that could tell us where Vistor went?” Jace asked.
“Not directly. There were documents, but nothing that gave us his current location. We are still going through everything, and there may be more connections once the investigators finish processing the evidence.” Sarah said.
For the first time since Sarah had arrived, the room seemed to loosen.
It wasn’t victory, exactly, because Victor was still somewhere out there, Damien had escaped, and Mr. Black remained an unanswered question, but the Black Reapers had finally suffered a real setback and Mia smiled faintly.
“At least something went right.” Mia said as Sarah looked at her.
“For once, yes.” Sarah said as’ Ben grinned.

“I vote we celebrate before somebody ruins it.” Ben said and I laughed despite myself.
“That sounds like something you would say.” I said.
