Summary for Chapter 294: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 294

CHAPTER 166-1

I stared at the empty workshop for several seconds after Charlotte finished speaking, because the idea of her volunteering at Lawson Customs was not something I had expected when I walked through the doors that morning.

Part of me wanted to say no immediately, because this business was my life, and allowing Charlotte into it meant giving her access to something she had spent years trying to undermine.

Another part of me remembered what I had told her, because if I expected her to prove that she had changed, then I had to give her an opportunity to do exactly that.

“Fine.” I said and Charlotte was silent.

“You can volunteer.” I added.

“Really?” She asked.

“Yes, but there are conditions.” I said.

“I understand.” She said.

“You don’t get involved in anything involving money, customers, suppliers, or business decisions, and you follow Mia’s instructions while you are here.” I said.

“I will.” She said.

“You also understand that nobody here is required to trust you.” I said.

“I know.” She said.

“And if you lie to me, steal anything, cause trouble, or try manipulating anyone, you are done.” I said and Charlotte took a breath.

“I understand.” Charlotte said and I leaned against the counter.

“You can start tomorrow.” I said.

“Thank you, Paige.” She said.

I could hear the emotion in her voice, but I did not let it soften my decision.

“Do not thank me yet.” I said as she nodded.

“I won’t.” She said.

The call ended, and I remained standing there for another moment while staring around the empty workshop.

I had no idea whether I had just made a mistake, but I knew one thing for certain.

Charlotte was going to have to prove herself.

The next morning, I arrived at Lawson Customs before opening, and Charlotte was already waiting

eutside.

She stood beside the entrance with her hands tucked into the pockets of her jacket, and when she saw

me, she immediately straightened.

“You’re early.” I said.

“I didn’t want to be late.” She said.

“That is a good start.” I said.

I unlocked the doors, and she followed me inside.

Mia was already behind the front counter, and her eyes immediately moved toward Charlotte and the silence lasted several seconds.

“Morning.” Charlotte said quietly.

“Morning.” Mia replied, although her expression remained cautious and Charlotte looked at me.

“What should I do?” Charlotte asked as I pointed toward the storage area.

“There are shelves that need cleaning, and several boxes of parts need to be sorted.” I said.

“I can do that.” She said.

“Mia will tell you where everything belongs.” I said and Charlotte nodded and walked toward the shelves without another question.

Mia watched her disappear around the corner.
