Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 295
CHAPTER 166-2
“She’s actually working.” He said.
“I noticed.” I said.
“She hasn’t complained once.” He said.
“That is also true.” I said and Ben scratched the back of his neck.
“I still don’t trust her.” He said.
“You don’t have to.” I said and he looked at me.
“Do you?” He asked and I paused.
“I am trying to see what she does before I decide.” I said and Ben nodded.
“That makes sense.” Ben said.
Across the workshop, Charlotte lifted another box onto the shelf and carefully checked the label before
putting it away.
She was taking her time, and although the work was simple, she was doing it properly.
That mattered.
Around noon, Mia approached me while Charlotte continued sorting parts.
“She has finished the first three shelves.” Mia said.
“Already?” I asked.
“She asked me before moving anything, and she put everything back exactly where it belongs.” Mia said and I looked toward Charlotte.
“That’s good.” I said as Mia folded her arms.
“She has also been polite to everyone.” Mia said.
“I noticed.” I said.
“I still do not trust her.” Mia said.
“I know.” I said.
“But I will admit that she is trying.” Mia said and I nodded.
“That is all I asked her to do.” I said.
Lunch was quieter than usual because Charlotte ate alone at one of the smaller tables near the back, and nobody seemed certain whether they should join her.
I considered walking over, but I decided against it because giving Charlotte a chance did not mean forcing

everyone else to accept her immediately.
Instead, I watched from a distance.
She finished her lunch, cleaned the table, and returned to work.
There was no performance, no attempt to win anyone over, and no dramatic apology.
She simply worked.
By early afternoon, Aiden needed a specific set of older Harley parts, and when he asked Mia where they were, Mia pointed toward the storage area and Charlotte heard him.
“Second shelf on the right.” She said and Aiden looked at her.
“You know where they are?” Aiden asked.
“I organized them this morning.” Charlotte said.
He walked over, checked the shelf, and nodded.
“They’re exactly where they should be.” Aiden said and Charlotte gave a small smile.
“I followed the labels.” Charlotte said and Aiden looked toward me.
“She is useful.” Aiden said.
Charlotte lowered her eyes and returned to sorting the remaining boxes.
I could not stop myself from noticing the difference.
The Charlotte I had known for years would have found a way to control the room, because she always needed attention, approval, or some advantage.
This Charlotte did none of that. She worked quietly, listened when people spoke, and accepted correction without arguing.
It was unsettling because part of me wanted to believe the change was real. Another part of me knew better than to trust one good day.
Late in the afternoon, Charles stopped by Lawson Customs, and he froze when he saw Charlotte and she looked equally surprised.
“What are you doing here?” He asked as Charlotte glanced toward me.
“I’m volunteering.” Charlotte said and Charles looked at me.
“You agreed to this?” Charles asked.
“I did.” I said and he nodded slowly.
“I think that’s good.” He said as Charlotte looked down.
“I’m trying to do something useful.” Charlotte said.
Charles gave her a small nod before looking toward me.
