Summary for Chapter 382: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 382

CHAPTER 209-1

Paige’s POV

For once, nobody was chasing us.

There were no police cars outside Lawson Customs, nobody was watching the clubhouse from a distance, and nobody had discovered another tracker hidden beneath a motorcycle.

There was only the lake, the trees, the laughter of children, and the sound of Jace complaining about his fishing line.

“You’ve tangled it again.” I said as Jace looked at the fishing rod in his hands.

“I have not.” He said.

“You absolutely have.” I said and he frowned at the line.

“It was like this when I picked it up.” He said and I laughed.

“Of course it was.” I said and he looked at me.

“You’re supposed to support me.” He said.

“I’m supporting you by telling you the truth.” I said.

“That doesn’t feel supportive.” He said and I smiled.

“You’ll survive.” I said.

We had driven out to the lake with several of the club families earlier that morning, and the entire day had been planned around one simple idea.

Nobody was allowed to talk about work. Nobody was allowed to talk about Victor. Nobody was allowed to discuss investigations unless something genuinely urgent happened.

For a few hours, we were simply families spending a Saturday together.

The children had already claimed the grassy area beside the water, while Emma and Sophia had spread blankets beneath the trees.

Someone had brought cricket bats and a set of stumps, while someone else had packed enough food to feed an army.

Jace had insisted on bringing fishing rods because he apparently believed he could teach the children, how to fish.

The children had quickly discovered that watching Jace untangle fishing line was more entertaining.

“Uncle Jace.” One of them called and Jace looked over.

“What?” Jace asked.

“I think your fish escaped.” He said.

CHAPTER 209–+

There isn’t a fish.” Jace said.

Claim

“Then why are you fishing?” He asked as Jace stared at him and I covered my mouth to hide my laughter.

“Your students are challenging you.” I said.

“I can see that.” He said.

He finally untangled the line and handed the rod to the child. –

“Now you try.” Jace said as the child took it carefully.

“Like this?” He asked.

“Exactly.” Jace said.

I watched Jace crouch beside him, patiently explaining how to hold the rod.

The sight made something warm settle in my chest.

I had spent so long believing my life would always be about surviving the next problem that I had never imagined moments like this.

A peaceful afternoon. A man I loved. Children laughing nearby. People who had become family without me even realizing it and Diesel suddenly raced past us carrying a stick.

“Diesel!” I yelled but he ignored me completely.

He charged straight into the lake and water exploded around him as he paddled toward the middle, and the children immediately started cheering.

“He’s swimming!” One yelled.

“Get the stick!” Another one yelled.

Diesel disappeared beneath the surface for a moment before emerging with the stick clamped between his teeth and Jace laughed.

“That dog has no sense of self-preservation.” Jace said.

“He has plenty.” I said.

“He just jumped into freezing water.” Jace said.

“He saw a stick.” I said.
