Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 383

CHAPTER 209-2

“You love him.” I said.

“I tolerate him.” Jace said.

Diesel barked and Jace sighed.

“I love him.” Jace said.

The children started a cricket game after lunch, and somehow Jace became the designated bowler.

I sat beneath the trees with Emma and Sophia while we watched the chaos unfold.

The first ball went wide. The second ball was hit directly toward Jace. The third ball nearly knocked over one of the stumps and Jace laughed as he chased the ball across the grass.

“I thought this was supposed to be relaxing.” I called as he turned around.

“It was until they started cheating.” Jace said.

“We aren’t cheating.” One of the children shouted.

“You moved the stumps.” Jace said.

“They were in the wrong place.” The kid said and Jace looked toward me.

“Are you hearing this?” Jace asked.

“I am.” I said.

“And?” He asked.

“I think you’re losing.” I said and he shook his head.

“You’re supposed to be on my side.” He said.

“I’m on the side of whoever is winning.” I said.

“That’s not how relationships work.” He said and I laughed.

“You’ll have to learn.” I said.

Eventually, the children won, although Jace insisted the rules had been manipulated.

Nobody cared and everyone was laughing.

As the afternoon stretched on, people slowly settled down.

The children played near the water while the adults talked beneath the trees.

I sat beside Jace on the edge of the blanket and his arm rested around my shoulders.

“This is nice.” I said.

It is.” He said.

“I almost forgot what peaceful feels like.” I said as Jace looked toward the lake.

“We need more days like this” He said.

“We do.” I said and he was quiet for a moment.

“We should get our own place.” He said and I turned toward him.

“What?” I asked.

“A house.” He said and I smiled.

“Here?” I asked.

“Somewhere quiet.” He said as he looked across the lake.

“Not too far from the club or the garage, but far enough that we can have some privacy.” He added and I rested my head against his shoulder.

“What would it look like?” I asked.

“Small.” He said and I laughed.

“You?” I asked.

“Yes.” He said.

“You want a small house?” I asked.

“I want something that feels like ours.” He said and that answer made me smile.

“I like that.” I said.

“We could have a big kitchen.” He said.

“You don’t cook.” I said.

“I could learn.” He said.

“You nearly burned dinner last week.” I said.

“I was distracted.” He said.

“You were watching television.” I said.

“That was very distracting.” He said and I laughed as he squeezed my shoulder.

“And you would want a garage.” He added.

“Obviously.” I said.

“How many bikes?” He asked and I pretended to think.

“Enough.” I said.

CHAPTER 2092

That’s not a number.” He said.

“It’s the correct number.” I said and he laughed as I looked out over the water.

“I think I would want a little garden.” He added.

“You hate gardening.” I said.

“I could learn.” He said.

“You said that about cooking.” I said.

“I am capable of growth.” He said.

“Apparently.” I smiled and then I looked at him.

“We should start planning the wedding.” I added and he went quiet as I raised an eyebrow.

“What?” I asked.

“You’re serious.” He said.

“Yes.” I said.

He stared at me for a moment before his smile slowly appeared.

“I thought you wanted to wait.” He said.

“I did.” I said.

“And now?” He asked.

“Now I think we’ve waited long enough.” I said and he kissed my forehead.

“I’ll marry you whenever you’re ready.” He said.

“I know.” I said as I looked down at my hands.

“I don’t need anything huge.” I said.

“Neither do I.” He said.

“I just want our people there.” I said.

“They’ll be there.” He said.

“And I want Uncle Will’s memory included somehow.” I said and Jace nodded.
