Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 389
CHAPTER 212-2
“Everything is ready.” Aiden said.
I still wasn’t satisfied so I walked toward one of the motorcycles and crouched beside it and Ben laughed.
“Paige.” Ben said.
“What?” I asked.
“You’ve checked that one three times.” He said.
“I know.” I said.
“It’s not going to magically become safer because you stare at it.” He said and I stood.
“You’re becoming too comfortable.” I said and he smiled.
“You taught me to be thorough.” He said.
“I taught you to be careful.” I said.
“Same thing.” He said.
I looked around the garage and every motorcycle was ready.
Every rider had equipment. Every machine had been inspected.
There was nothing else I could do. That should have made me feel better but it didn’t and Jace approached me.
“You’ve done enough.” Jace said and I nodded.
“I know.” I said.
“You don’t believe that.” He said.
“No.” I said and he smiled slightly.
“I know.” He said as I looked at him.
“You’re coming back.” I said.
“Yes.” He said.
“You’re not taking unnecessary risks.” I said.
“No.” He said.
“You’re listening to Derek.” I said and he smiled.
“Mostly.” He said.
“Jace.” I said.

“All right.” He said as he touched my cheek.
“I’ll listen.” He added as I looked into his eyes.
“I don’t want to lose you.” Isaid.
“You won’t.” He said and I took a breath.
“I know you can’t guarantee that.” I said.
“No.” He said.
“But you’re going to try.” I said.
“With everything I have.” He said and I nodded.
“That’s all I can ask.” I said and he kissed my forehead.
“Thank you.” He said.
“For what?” I asked.
“For checking everything.” He said and I looked toward the motorcycles.
“They need to come home safely.” I said.
“They will.” He said.
“You can’t know that.” I said.
“No.” He said as he smiled.

“But I know you did everything possible to make sure they have the best chance.” He added and his words stayed with me.
As evening approached, the club members began preparing to leave.
Helmets were checked. Jackets were zipped. Radios were tested. Weapons were secured according to club protocol.
Derek moved from rider to rider, making sure everyone understood the plan and Ethan checked communication equipment.
Mason reviewed the route and Jace stood near the garage entrance.
I watched them all.
The motorcycles started one after another. The sound rolled through the workshop and into the parking lot.
I hated that sound. Not because I disliked motorcycle but because tonight, every engine represented someone I loved riding toward danger.
The first group pulled away. Then another and I stood beside the garage doors while the remaining riders mounted their bikes and Ben approached me.

“You okay?” Ben asked.
“I’ll be fine.” I said.
“That wasn’t my question. He said and I looked at him as he smiled slightly.
“You worry about everyone!” He added.
“Someone has to.” I said and he nodded.
“They’ll be back.” He said and I placed a hand on his shoulder.
“I know.” I said.
The final riders started their engines and Jace approached me before putting on his helmet.
“I’ll call you when we get there.” Jace said.
“I’ll be waiting.” I said and he looked at me.
“Try to sleep.” He said.
“I won’t.” I said.
“I know.” He smiled and then he leaned down and kissed me.
“See you soon.” He said.
“Come home.” I said.
“I will.” He said.
He put on his helmet and climbed onto his motorcycle and I stood there as he joined the others.
One by one, the Iron Vipers left Lawson Customs.

The roar of the engines slowly faded into the distance and I remained outside long after the last taillight disappeared.
The parking lot suddenly felt enormous.
Empty and wrong and I wrapped my arms around myself.
I had checked every brake. Every tire. Every engine and every fuel system.
I had done everything I could. Now there was nothing left to do except wait.
I finally turned toward the garage and Mia stood in the doorway.
“You should come inside.” She said.
