Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 411
CHAPTER 223-1
Derek came through the workshop doors with blood running down his arm.
I was standing beside Ben when I saw him, and for one second, the noise of the garage
seemed to disappear.
His left hand was pressed against his right shoulder, and blood had soaked through his shirt.
“Derek.” I said and he looked at me.
“I’m fine.” He said.
“You’re bleeding.” I said.
“I noticed.” He said and I hurried toward him.
“What happened?” I asked.
“Someone got lucky.” He said but Ben immediately put down his tools.
“Should I call Liam?” Ben asked.
“Yes.” I said but Derek shook his head.
“I can walk.” Derek said.
“I didn’t ask whether you could walk.” I said and he gave me a tired smile.
“You sound like Paige.” He said.
“I am Paige.” I said.
“That explains it.” He said.
Ben hurried toward the office while I guided Derek toward the secured room at the back of
the garage.
The room had originally been used for storing sensitive club documents, but after everything
that had happened, we had cleared it and turned it into a small emergency treatment room.
It was not a hospital, but it was private, secure, and stocked with enough medical supplies to
handle injuries until someone could be transferred.
Derek sat on the table and I grabbed gloves and medical supplies while Mia locked the outer

door.
“Where did you get hit?” Mia asked.
“Shoulder.” Derek said.
“Where were you?” Mia asked.
“Near the west road.” Derek said.
“Were you alone?” She asked.
“No.” Derek said.
“Who was with you?” She asked.
“Two riders.” He said.
“Are they hurt?” She asked.
“No.” He said and I looked at him.

“You’re going to answer every question properly because I’m not guessing about anything.” I
said and Derek smiled.
“You really have become terrifying.” He said.
“I learned from Jace.” I said.
“Then I have made a terrible mistake by becoming your patient.” He said.
The door opened, and Dr. Liam Brooks entered carrying his medical bag and he took one look
at Derek.
“How bad?” Liam asked.
“Gunshot wound to the shoulder.” I said as Derek lifted his uninjured hand.
“I have survived worse.” Derek said and Liam gave him a flat look.
“You’re not helping.” Liam said.
“I thought doctors appreciated optimism.” Derek said.
“We appreciate patients who stop talking.” Liam said and Derek laughed.
Liam examined the wound while I prepared the supplies.

“The bullet is still inside.” Liam said.
“How do you know?” Derek asked.
“Because there is an entry wound and no exit wound.” Liam said.
“That seems inconvenient.” Derek said.
“It is.” Liam said before he looked at me.
“I need you to hold the light.” He said and I nodded as Derek looked between us.
