Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 418

CHAPTER 226-2

Per words stayed with me.

Something else still mattered.

That was exactly what everyone had been doing.

The war had taken businesses, sleep, security, and peace, but it had not taken everything.

We still had family. We still had each other. We still had reasons to laugh. And that was why Jace

and I had made our decision.

I found him later that afternoon standing outside the clubhouse with Derek.

Derek’s shoulder was still bandaged, but he looked considerably better and Jace looked toward

“You ready?” He asked and I smiled.

“I’ve been ready.” I said as Derek raised an eyebrow.

“I still can’t believe you two planned this without telling anyone.” Derek said.

“That was the point.” Jace said and Derek laughed.’

“You realize I’m supposed to officiate this thing, and I have a shoulder wound.” Derek said.

“You can stand.” Jace said.

“I can stand, but I’m beginning to question whether I can tolerate either of you.” He said and I

smiled.

“You will survive.” I said as Derek looked toward the clubhouse.

“They have no idea.” Derek said.

“None.” I said as Jace reached for my hand.

“Then let’s do it.” Jace said.

I had kept the wedding dress hidden for days.

It was simple, elegant, and exactly what I wanted, and I had been waiting for the right moment because I knew that if we announced a wedding during everything happening around us, nobody

would believe we were serious.

Jace and I had decided that we didn’t need a perfect venue. We didn’t need months of planning.

We didn’t need hundreds of guests.

We needed each other and that was enough.

When I walked into the common room wearing my dress, every conversation stopped as Emma stared at me and Sophia covered her mouth.

One of the children whispered something that made the others turn around.

Jace stepped into the room behind me wearing a suit.

Derek stood near the front with the legal paperwork and Emma looked between us.

“You planned this.” Emma said and I smiled.

“We did.” I said.

“You are getting married?” She asked.

“Yes.” I said.

“And nobody told us?” She asked.

“That was also planned.” I said and Emma laughed as tears filled her eyes.

“You’re terrible.” She said.

“I know.” I said.

The room quickly transformed and someone moved the furniture. Someone found flowers and someone turned on music.

Nobody cared that the ceremony hadn’t been planned for months because the people we loved were already there.

Derek cleared his throat.

“I would like everyone to settle down before I begin.” Derek said.

The children immediately became quieter and Derek looked at us.

“You two have caused me enough trouble already, so I’m going to make this official before either of you changes your minds.” He said and Jace laughed.

“I’m not changing mine.” Jace said as I looked at him.

“Neither am I.” I said and Derek smiled.

“Then let’s begin.” Derek said.

The ceremony was simple.

There were no elaborate speeches, and there was no grand venue, but there were people around

us who had stood beside us through everything.

Derek spoke about choosing each other even when life became difficult, and he reminded us that

marriage wasn’t about having a perfect life because nobody was promised one.

It was about standing together when life stopped being perfect.

When it was time for our vows, Jace looked directly into my eyes.

“I chose you before I understood what choosing you would cost, and I would make that choice again.” He said as my throat tightened and I took his hands.

“I chose you knowing that our life would never be simple, but I also knew that I never wanted to face the difficult parts without you.” I said and Derek smiled.

“Then by the authority granted to me, I pronounce you husband and wife.” Derek said and the room

erupted.

Everyone cheered, clapped, laughed, and several people cried.

Jace kissed me, and for the first time in weeks, I forgot about Victor.

I forgot about the attacks. I forgot about the damaged motorcycles. I forgot about the blood and

the fear.

For one evening, we were simply married and the reception was completely improvised.

Emma found food. Sophia found decorations. Someone brought music and the children danced around the tables while Diesel followed them, and even Derek managed to smile despite his

shoulder.

Jace wrapped an arm around me.

“This is better than anything I imagined.” Jace said as I leaned against him.

“It’s exactly what I wanted.” I said and he kissed my forehead.

“I love you.” He said.
