I stared at the name for several seconds before slowly looking across the kitchen at Jace.

“Why does this exist?” I asked as Jace glanced up from his coffee.

“Because you’re having a baby.” He said.

“That doesn’t explain the committee.” I said.

“It explains everything.” He said and I narrowed my eyes.

“You aren’t helping.” I said.

“I’m trying to stay alive.” He said and I couldn’t help laughing and Jace took another sip of coffee

before standing.

“I’m going to the workshop.” He said.

“You’re running away.” I said.

“I’m making a strategic retreat.” He said.

“You helped create this mess.” I said.

“I told everyone congratulations, and then I wisely stepped aside.” He said and I pointed at him.

“You’re a coward.” I said.

“I’m a smart man.” He said.

Before I could answer, the apartment door opened and Emma walked in carrying three folders.

Sophia followed with her tablet, and Mia came behind them with what appeared to be an entire

office supply store and I stared at them.

“What is all that?” I asked as Emma smiled.

“Planning materials.” Emma said as I looked at Jace and he immediately backed toward the door.

“I’m definitely going to the workshop.” Jace said.

“Jace!” I yelled but he kissed my forehead.

“Good luck.” He said and then he disappeared and I turned toward the women.

“I hate all of you.” I said and Emma laughed.

“No, you don’t.” She said.

“I’m reconsidering.” I said as Sophia pulled out a chair.

“Sit down because we’ve got a lot to discuss.” Sophia said.

“I have a business to run.” I said and Mia shook her head.

“Ben, Aiden, and the rest of the crew have the workshop covered for today.” Mia said.

“I have paperwork.” I said.

“Later.” Mia said.

“I have customers.” I said.

“They can wait.” She said and I stared at them.

“This feels like an ambush.” I said and Emma smiled.

“It’s a baby shower.” She said.

“Same thing.” I said.

They laughed as I reluctantly sat down and Emma opened the first folder.

“Okay, we need a date.” Emma said.

“Pick one.” I said.

“That’s not how planning works.” She said.

“Why not?” I asked.

“Because there are several things to consider.” She said and I sighed.

“Fine.” I said as Sophia started listing possibilities.

Mia checked the calendar and Emma wrote everything down.

Within ten minutes, I was already confused.

“Why are there three dates?” I asked.

“Because we need options.” Emma said.
