Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 54
CHAPTER 33-1
didn’t notice the change until I walked into my apartment one Thursday night and realized the fridge was almost empty. Not because I couldn’t afford groceries but because I hadn’t been home enough to eat them.
I stood in the tiny kitchen above the garage with one hand resting on the fridge door staring at a carton of milk that was due to expire the next morning and a load of bread that had gone stale before I’d managed to finish it and I laughed quietly to myself.
“Well, that’s embarrassing.” I said to myself.
A few month earlier I barely left the apartment unless I was opening or closing the garage.
Now I was spending nearly every night somewhere else. The clubhouse.
I closed the fridge, wandered into the bathroom and took a quick shower before brushing my teeth
and changing into clean jeans with a comfortable gray t-shirt.
The apartment still meant everything to me. It had been Uncle Will’s and it sat above the garage he’d trusted me to protect. But lately, I only seemed to sleep there occasionally.
The rest of my time was spent at the garage or the clubhouse.
Neither thought bothered me as much as I expected it to.
After grabbing my truck keys I headed downstairs, locked the garage for the night and drove
across town.
The familiar gates came into view a few minutes later and as I entered the property I saw children riding bicycles around the parking lot while several club members washed motorcycles beneath
the trees.
The smell of dinner drifted from the clubhouse before I even stepped out of the truck and I barely closed the driver’s door before Hunter spotted me.
“Look who finally came home.” Hunter said and I stopped walking and looked around dramatically.
“I don’t remember changing my address.” I said.
“You practically live here.” He said.
“I still pay a mortgage somewhere else.” I said and Hunter grinned.
“We’re working on fixing that.” He said.
“I don’t remember asking for a committee.” I said.

“You got one anyway.” He said and I shook my head while walking toward the clubhouse.
“You people look exhausted.” I said.
“And yet you keep coming back.” Hunter said.
“I’ve questioned my own judgement several times.” I said.
Hunter laughed loudly enough for everyone nearby to hear.

Inside the clubhouse Emma stood at the kitchen counter chopping vegetables while two of the
other wives prepared dinner.
“There she is.” Emma smiled the moment I walked in and I pointed toward Hunter through the
open doorway.
“Please tell him I don’t live here.” I said and Emma looked thoughtful for a moment.
“I can’t.” She said.
“You can’t?” I asked.
“Because he might actually be right.” She said and the other women laughed.
“I still have an apartment.” I said.
“Above the garage.” Emma nodded.
“Exactly.” I said.
“You sleep there.” She said.
“I also shower there.” I said and she smiled.
“We’re all very proud of you.” She said and I rolled my eyes.
“I walked straight into that one.” I said.
“You really did.” She said.
Without another word I picked up an apron hanging beside the pantry and tied it around my waist.
Nobody asked me to help anymore. I just simply did it.
I reached into the cupboard for a mixing bowl before stopping halfway through the movement and Emma noticed immediately.
