Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 55
CHAPTER 33-2
had been a house filled with rules, expectations and endless comparisons.
The apartment above the garage became my first real home because it was peaceful and the clubhouse somehow felt peaceful too.
That realization caught me completely off guard.
While dinner cooked the women talked about everything from school fundraisers to birthday
parties and grocery prices.
Nobody talked over anyone else or competed for attention. They simply enjoyed being together.
I found myself laughing much more than I spoke and at one point Emma looked at me with a knowing smile.
“You laugh more now.” She said.
“Do I?” I asked.
“Every day.” She said. She wasn’t wrong.
A loud crash echoed from outside before several children came running through the back door.
The youngest little girl threw her arms around my waist.
“Aunt Paige.” She said and I looked down at her.
“There it is again.” I said and she smiled brightly.
“That’s your name.” She said.
“I was under the impression my name was Paige.” I said.
“It still is. But you’re Aunt Paige too.” She said and I looked toward Emma for help but she just
simply shrugged.
“The vote was unanimous.” Emma said.
“I don’t remember being invited.” I said.
“You weren’t.” She said.
“I feel like there are legal issues here.” I said and the little girl giggled before grabbing my hand.
“Can you come outside?” She asked.
“What happened?” I asked.

“Tommy broke his bike.” She said.
“Do any of you own something that doesn’t need repairing?” I asked.
“No.” She said.
“Well, at least your honest.” I said.
The children laughed as they dragged me outside.
Tommy’s bike had thrown its chain while another child had somehow managed to loosed the
handlebar.
I knelt on the grass and fixed both problems in less than two minutes and the kids raced away as though nothing had happened. And Hunter wandered over carrying a soda.
“I told you.” He said.
“Told me what?” I asked.
“You can’t stop fixing things.” She said and I wiped my hands on an old rag.
“I have a condition.” I said.
“Is it serious?” He asked.
“I break into hives if machinery stays broken.” I said.
“I’ll inform the doctors.” He said.
“You should.” I said.
After dinner several members rolled their personal motorcycles into the workshop behind the
clubhouse.
None of them needed major repairs but one wanted fresh brake pads and another asked me to adjust the clutch.
Someone else complained about a strange vibration that turned out to be nothing more than a loose mounting bolt.
The jobs were simple and familiar and when I finished the last motorcycle, Derek quietly handed me an envelope but I pushed it straight back.
“No.” I said.
“Yes.” He said.
“We’re standing at your clubhouse.” I said.

“And you’re standing here as my mechanic.” He said.
Hunter dropped another envelope beside Derek’s.
