Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 7
CHAPTER 7-1
The workshop fell so quiet I could hear the old clock ticking above the office door.
Every pair of eyes shifted from Tyler to the enormous bouquet of flowers in his hands.
He looked uncomfortable which was unusual for him. Tyler had always carried himself like the room belonged to him but today he hesitated just inside the roller door as though he wasn’t entirely sure he’d made the right decision.
I leaned against the workbench and folded my arms.
“I’ll give you points for originality. Nobody had ever tried apologizing with enough flowers to start a garden.” I said and a couple of muffled laughs came from somewhere behind me.
Tyler glanced toward the Iron Vipers before looking back at me.
“Can we talk?” He asked.
“We are talking.” I said.
“I meant privately.” He said and I looked around the workshop.
“My office walls are thinner than paper and these engines have heard worse conversations than anything we’re about to have.” I said so he let out a slow breath.
“I came to apologize.” He said.
I waited and when I didn’t say anything he awkwardly held the flowers out.
“They’re for you.” He said and I looked at the bouquet but made no effort to take it.
“They’re very pretty.” I ssaid.
“You don’t want them?” He asked.
“I didn’t say that.” I said.
“Then…” He started.
“I just don’t particularly want them from you.” I said and his shoulders dropped slightly.
“I know I handled things badly.” He said.
“That’s one way of describing it.” I said.
“I made mistakes.” He said and I couldn’t help but smile.
“Tyler, you didn’t forget to buy milk.” I snapped and he winced.
“I know.” He said,
“No, I don’t think you do.” He said.
“It was one night.” He said lowering the flowers and the smile disappeared from his face.
“I don’t care if it lasted five minutes or five months.” I said.
“It meant nothing.” He said.
“That’s supposed to make me feel better?” I asked.
