"I think you love the version of me that agreed with everything you said.” I said.

“That’s not true.” He said.

“It is.” I said.

“You’ve changed.” He said and I smiled.

“No. I’ve finally stodpped apologizing for existing.” I said.

The words hung in the air between us and for the first time since he arrived tyler looked genuinely lost.

“I miss you.” He said.

“You miss having someone who always forgave you.” I said.

“I miss us.” He said.

“There isn’t an us anymore.” I said and he looked around the workshop.

“Is this because of them?” He asked and I followed his gaze toward the Iron Vipers.

“They’ve got nothing to do with it.” I said.

“They’ve filled your head with nonsense.” He said and I laughed.

“No. They’re mostly filled my workshop.” I said.

“They’re criminals.” He said.

“They’re customers.” I said.

“They’re dangerous.” He said.

“So are torgue wrenches if you use them wrong.” I said.

Hunter finally lost the battle and laughed out loud as Tyler shot him an irritated looked before turning back to me.

“You’ve changed since they came alone.” He said.

“I’ve smiled more since they came alone.” I said.

“That’s exactly my point.” He said and I tilted my head.

“I’m struggling to see the downside of that.” I said.

Tyler’s patience finally snapped and he pointed toward the group standing near the roller door.

“You really think these bikers care about you?” He snapped and the temperature inside the Workshop seemed to drop.

Nobody moved or spoke but Derek slowly pushed himself away from the wall and the expression on his face suggested he was only a few seconds away from physically introducing Tyler to the footpath.

Hunter quietly folded his arms while the others simply watched.

I stepped sideways before Derek could take another step.

“I’ve got this.” I said.

“You sure?” Derek asked looking at me.

“I’ve be dealing with overinflated egos for years.” I smiled.
