Rogue Tide, Clean Heart novel Chapter 3

Yanet shifted uncomfortably, her mind still foggy with sleep. Then, the realization hit her—the sensation was coming from a highly intimate place.

She snapped her eyes open. Barrett was pulling back, leaning over her. The heavy blackout curtains were drawn, leaving only a sliver of moonlight to spill across his bare chest.-

The silvery light cut across his torso, throwing half of his muscular frame into deep shadow and bathing the other half in a cool blue glow, likely reflecting off the pool downstairs.

His collarbones dipped sharply as he moved his arms, leading down to a defined, hard-packed chest and tightly corded abs. Thick veins ran down his muscular forearms, disappearing under the hem of her nightgown.

To ensure her daughter had a spicy wedding night, Eleanor had secretly removed all of Yanet's conservative long-sleeved pajamas, replacing them with a row of scandalous lace slips she had never seen before.

She had picked the most modest one she could find, assuming before she fell asleep that he simply wasn't in the mood.

"You awake?" the man asked, his voice a low, gravelly hum.

Yanet gripped the bedsheets, managing a tiny, pathetic 'Yeah.'

She sounded exactly like her cat. In the dead of night, it sounded incredibly suggestive.

"I don't think you're going to need whatever's in that nightstand," Barrett murmured smoothly. In the darkness, his voice took on a husky, magnetic edge that was intensely seductive.

His tone sent a strange thrill straight to her core, though her brain was still struggling to catch up. "Huh?"

"Ever been kissed?" Barrett asked.

"What?" She seriously wondered if she was dreaming. Otherwise, why did she feel like she had just woken up in the middle of a steamy romance movie?

Barrett leaned over her, planting his hands on either side of her head. Trapped beneath his imposing weight, Yanet finally snapped fully awake.

Her new husband apparently wanted to exercise his marital rights.

His sharp, incredibly handsome face moved closer, and Yanet's heart rate spiked. His hand slipped further up her thigh, under the lace slip.

His slightly calloused fingertips traced the sensitive skin of her inner thigh, sending an involuntary shiver through her body.

"So sensitive?" He arched an eyebrow, clearly pleased with her reaction.

Who would have thought they were complete strangers just twenty-four hours ago?

As the massive master suite's bathroom, the dual vanity clearly divided their spaces. Yet, the matching toiletries and the 'Just Married' welcome basket on the counter silently highlighted their new reality.

Yanet brushed her teeth slowly, sneaking glances at him through the mirror. The man was shirtless, brushing his teeth with aggressive, effortless strokes. His hair was slightly messy, giving him a rugged, untamed look.

Catching her stare, Barrett turned to look at her. Yanet immediately snapped her eyes back to her own reflection, brushing diligently.

Barrett found himself in a surprisingly good mood. He kind of wanted to take a bite out of his new wife.

Yanet noticed that when he smiled, a faint, shallow dimple appeared on his right cheek.

Unlike him, her porcelain skin showed every emotion. A blush was already creeping up her neck, dusting her cheeks like soft pink petals.

When Barrett finished brushing, he carelessly dropped his toothbrush into the glass. Yanet's keen eyes noticed the angle of his brush perfectly mirrored hers.

Symmetrical. Satisfying.
