Chapter 106: Neglected

Jade’s pov

“Are you okay Kiddo?” I asked Jay as he opened his eyes.

“I feel just fine,” he answered and then I smiled and handed him my homemade soup.

“Who made it?” he asked me.

“Jade and I made it together,” Mom answered and Jay looked at us.

“So you finally made up huh?” he asked us and we just shrugged.

He took a spoon and had a little and I watched how he frowned.

“What is in this? Why does it taste like medicine?” he asked.

“We added some herbs into it. To help you recover,” Mom explained and I nodded.

“It can’t be that bad,” Dad said as he had a taste.

I watched how he frowned and then looked at both of us.

“I think you two should try to bond with something else, food isn’t for you,” Dad said and Jay

chuckled.

“Thank you for this,” he said and then continued eating.

“You should let you rest, I have a few things to take care of you,” Mom said and then she got up and

left.

Everyone left the room leaving only me, Sasha, and Jay.

“It’s been so long since I last saw Mom that happy,” he said and I nodded.

She is happy, isn’t she? “What are you talking about? She seemed just normal to me,” Sasha said

and I looked at Jay.

“What? You didn’t see it? Mom was happy,” Jay said and Sasha seemed confused even now.

Jay and I started talking and he was telling me about everything that had been happening.

“I hope you are happy now,” Sasha suddenly said and we looked at her.

“Did you remember what you said that night?” Sasha asked him and Jay frowned.

“What night?” he asked her and she scoffed and her eyes landed on me.

“The night when you I came here with my mate Dante. The night you cursed your own sister with

your words,” Sasha answered.

I watched as Jay sighed but he seemed to remember what she was talking about.

“Who needs enemies when they have family members like you?” she asked him and he rolled his

eyes.

I looked at Jay, it always intrigued me why Jay never liked Sasha.

Come to think of it, even most of our cousins seemed not to like her.

They didn’t avoid her or anything like that but they never really tried to connect with her.

As the oldest, Jay should have gravitated towards Sasha more instead of me.

“What did he say? Why would you even call him your enemy because of that?” I asked her and she

scoffed.

“He told me that he hopes that you and Dante fall in love,” she said and I looked at Jay.

“Are you happy that your little wish came true? My younger brother cursed me and my younger sister took away my mate from me,” Sasha said and I looked at her and sighed.

“Stop acting like the victim here. You created those circumstances yourself. Had you just let him marry someone else then this wouldn’t have happened,” Jay reminded her.

“Not only that, but even Dante was not interested in this whole thing. But you wanted to be Luna right? You should be happy sister, you are Luna of his pack,” I added and she scoffed at this.

“Really? The only reason I suggested you was because you are my sister. I thought I could trust you,” Sasha said and Jay scoffed.

“You expect me to believe that?” Jay suddenly asked and his usually friendly demeanour was gone

now.

“I know you sister, I have had the misfortune of witnessing your evil deeds,” Jay said and I looked at

him confused.

“Do you remember? When Jade was supposed to do a presentation on the family tree, and Mom was about to go there. You lied to Mom and told her it was postponed the next day which is why Mom missed it,” Jay suddenly said and I frowned at this. What?

“I heard you, and for a second there I believed you but when Jade came home crying because no one showed up. I saw the smile on your face,” Jay added and I looked at Sasha.

“Not only that but do you remember that one time Jade? I don’t know if you remember but I remember it as clear as day,” Jay said his eyes on Sasha.

I looked at my little brother, Jay is probably the most loving person you will ever know.

I have never seen hints of hatred on him but here he is now.

He is looking at our older sister with hate in his eyes but why?

“Do

you remember that one time when you were temporarily blind because of training?” he asked

me and I nodded.

How can I forget that day?

I just remember how scared I was back then.

Actually, it was when I started feeling like my mother didn’t care about me at all.

Flashback

“Jade, are you okay?” I heard Mom’s voice and I tried opening my eyes but they were already open.

Then why can’t I see anything?

“Mom, I can’t see anything. Something is wrong with my eyes,” I said and I felt it as she held my

hand.

“I am here Jade, we will figure this out,” she said and I just started crying.

“I can’t move my body, Mom, I can’t do anything at all,” I said.

“Calm down Jade, you trust Mom, right? So calm down and I will handle this,” I heard her say.

Someone picked me up and I heard their voices as they were going home.

“Is she going to be okay?” Dad asked Mom.

“Yes, she will be fine. The spell is just powerful, maybe she isn’t ready to master it yet. She will try again when she is old enough,” Mom said.

“Do you have to teach her such a spell? She obviously isn’t ready for it,” Dad said and Mom sighed. “Only Jade is capable of learning such a complicated spell. Even I can’t do this spell and she has to learn it for her own sake. I think that we don’t have enough resources for her to learn it,” Mom said. They placed me on my bed and Mom assured me that I would be alright.

“If you need me, just press this button okay and I will be right there with you,” Mom said as she placed something in my hand.

“Try pressing it once and give it a test drive,” Dad said and I did as they said.

“Something big is happening kiddo, we can’t stay with you. But we will have someone look after

you

for now,” Dad added.

I heard their footsteps as they walked off and I felt myself drift off to sleep.

My body was in pain and Mom told me not to move it at all.

I should just press the button when I need to go to the bathroom and she will come.

I opened my eyes when I heard someone enter my room.

But I couldn’t even see anything anyway.

“Who is it?” I asked the person but there was no answer.

I could still hear the person’s footsteps and I couldn’t understand what was going on.

I called out to the person but they didn’t answer.

I was about to say something but they took away the button that was in my hands.

“What are you doing?” I asked but no answer at all.

Suddenly I caught the scent of sage, the kind that soundproofs a room.

I was about to say something when I was suddenly pushed from the bed.

I fell on the ground and I felt it as my body felt like I had a thousand needles poking it.

I cried and cried in pain but the person didn’t say anything.

They walked away and closed the door behind them.

I couldn’t move at all and no matter how hard I screamed no one could hear.

I never found out who that person was.

“Mom didn’t want to go to that meeting. Dad was only going to go alone but Sasha insisted that

she go. She promised that she would take care of you,” Jay said and then sighed.

“When we tried going to your room she would tell us that you were sleeping and not to interrupt

you,” Jay said and then sighed.

“I snuck into your room a day later and you were on the ground. She was at a party and didn’t even

check on you, she was at a party with friends,” Jay said with a frown.

I looked at him, my little brother hates her so much because of that.

He hates her because he thinks that she just neglected me for a party.

I looked at Sasha, I never could figure out who did it because I couldn’t suspect my own family.

But now looking at it, I realize that my older sister is capable of such a thing.

But why?

Why was she so cruel to me for no reason?

Didn’t my screams of pain touch her heart?

Didn’t my pain make her feel guilty?

Does she even have a heart?

Claim

“You should rest up, don’t stress yourself about anything,” I said to Jay who frowned but nodded.

When he was all settled and a little bit calm I walked out of his room.

Sasha had left a few minutes after the whole ordeal which I am grateful for because it stopped things from escalating.

I found Sasha waiting for me outside and I just sighed when I looked at her.

“Can we talk outside?” she asked me and I nodded.

We walked out and I looked up at the stars and I sighed.

It has been a long day, and unfortunately for me, it keeps getting longer.

“What? Aren’t you going to ask me if I was the one that pushed you back then?” she asked me and I

just shrugged.

“What good would that do?” I asked her and she scoffed at this.

“You were always like this. You always act like you are better than me,” she said and I didn’t

answer.

Actually, I didn’t react at all because I didn’t feel like reacting to it.

Think about it, she pushed me and I was the one in pain back then.

And now today, after years have passed she is here again doing what she does best.

She is acting like she is the victim in all of this.

“I never really acted like I was better than anyone. If you feel so, then maybe you should look within,

“I answered after some time.

She scoffed at this and then looked at me with a smirk.

“There was something I never really liked about you. How you always pretended to be good and

kind,” she said and I didn’t react yet again.

I watched how she looked at me confused as if she didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t reacting.

“Are you even listening to me?” she asked me.

“Yes, I am listening to you. You said that you never really liked me,” I answered and watched how

she frowned.
