“Aren’t you going to say something about it?” she asked me and I shook my head.

“I realized today, a few minutes ago that it was because I didn’t care,” I explained and watched how

she became even more confused.

“I have a sisterly bond with Jane, Tia, and Addison. Hell, I have bonded with Lou more than I have ever with you. And you are my sister, we grew up in the same house. What only tied us to each

other was blood and nothing else,” I added.

“Is that your way of saying that you hate me?” she asked me and I shook my head.

“I just said it, didn’t I? I can’t find it in me to hate you. Because you are not worth that energy and

time,” I said and took the flower from my head.

“I have someone’s undying love and devotion. I am going to fix my relationship with my mother and I adore my younger brother. In short, I don’t have any space for someone else in my life. Especially someone who is so full of venom and hate for no reason,” I added and she scoffed at this.

“I don’t have a reason? You always take everything away from me, my position as the coven leader, you always take everything that is rightly mine. And now you have taken my mate as well,” she yelled as loud as she could.

“Yelling doesn’t mean that you are right. The truth doesn’t need to be loud,” I pointed out.

I looked at her, the hate in her eyes had intensified in just a day but why?

“You underestimate me, that is why you view me as nothing,” she said and I shook my head.

“No, I feel nothing for you because I have nothing to feel guilty or sorry about.

I have given it my all, not only to this family and this pack but to you as well.

Dante’s pov

“I think I am going to stay here for a few days,” Jade said and I looked at her confused.

Clair

“What? What do you mean you are going to stay here for a few days?” I asked her and she nodded.

“I want to make sure that Jay is okay, and you can’t stay because you can’t leave your pack

unprotected,” she answered.

“Tell her that it will only happen over my dead body. There is no way I am going to let her stay

behind,” Onyx said and I looked at Jade.

She seems really worried about her younger brother and we have seen that she can protect

herself.

“I want you home by tomorrow,” I told her and she thought about it and then nodded.

She wrapped her hands around me and then kissed me.

“I miss you already,” she said and I just winked.

“Be back tomorrow,” I said firmly and she nodded.

We went downstairs and I found her family all ready to see us off.

“I am glad you decided to stay back kiddo, what about you Sasha? We haven’t spent time as a family in a long time,” her father said.

“I am a Luna now Dad. I have responsibilities and staying by my mate’s side is one of those responsibilities,” Sasha said and then looked at Jade.

Is she throwing shade right now at this moment? I looked at Jade who smiled and then waved.

Yesterday she seemed a little bit troubled but a lot has happened.

I smiled as I noticed Mrs Bennett standing next to Jade and then holding her hand.

Well, I am glad that they somehow managed to fix their relationship.

We drove back home and all the time Onyx was complaining.

He was so angry that we left Jade and didn’t bring her with us. According to him, we should have dragged her to the car.

I hate being away from her as well but we must.

She is worried about her family and I also have duties to fulfill as the Alpha of my pack.

We got home and the day seemed to be longer than usual.

The night as well, it felt like everything was moving in slow motion without her around.

I mean yes, I know that I love her but why does it feel like I can’t breathe without her?

I couldn’t sleep all night long so I tried to get some work done.

“Are you okay?” Felix asked me and I looked up.

“Yes, I am fine,” I answered but he frowned as he looked at me.

“This is weird,” he said and I looked at him confused.

Hearing those words, it felt like my heart was going to leap out of my chest.

The prospect of Jade being my mate made me happy but at the same time, I knew it was not

possible.

I have thought about it, I know for certain that Sasha is my mate.

“You are at it again, you and I know that it’s not possible,” I said.

“Think about it, the day you met Sasha. You said that her scent was faint and she passed next to

you,” he said and I nodded.

“I caught my mate’s scent the moment I walked in here. Her scent filled the room even though she wasn’t there. Your mate’s scent shouldn’t be faint, it should be loud and it should consume you,” he

pointed out and I sighed.

I was about to answer and I caught Jade’s scent.

What he just said now became very loud and clear.

Her scent, she hasn’t even penetrated the pack border but I can catch her scent.

And just like he said, it’s consuming me from this far.

“Jade is here, we will talk about this later on,” I said getting up and going downstairs to wait for her.

A few minutes later a car stopped and Jade came out.

She didn’t waste any time and ran into my arms.

All that fatigue, all that anxiousness I was feeling completely disappeared.

“Sister-in-law, Nick told me everything. He said that you can make people explode and you are a

total badass,” Alec said.

“I wouldn’t say total, but I am pretty badass,” Jade answered with a chuckle.

“I wish I was there to see it with my own eyes. I heard you took down an entire army, that is just so

cool,” Felix said and I looked at him surprised.

Nothing can impress him, and yet here he is being my wife’s biggest fan.

“An entire army huh? Your Mom trained you well,” Mom said and Jade just smiled.

“Okay, enough everyone. I would like to spend some time with my mate right now,” I said and

suddenly all eyes were on me.

I slipped up, didn’t I? I called Jade my mate.

I stared at Felix who just smiled, he is the one that has been putting these weird ideas in my head.

“Let’s go,” I picked up Jade and walked off to our room avoiding the people’s smiles and whispers

as we went in.

The moment I closed our bedroom door I engulfed her in a kiss and she chuckled at this.

“I missed you too, but we can’t have s*x,” she said and I frowned at this.

“Why not?” I asked and she sighed.

“I am on my period,” she answered, and looking at her, I could tell she seemed uncomfortable.

“I spent a day without you and a few hours. We need to make up for all that time apart.

“I need to take a bath,” she said and then went to the bathroom.

I got everything ready and when she came out I watched how she smiled.

“What is this?” she asked me and I just shrugged.

“I just thought that you would want to be comfortable,” I said and handed her a hot water bottle.

She nodded and got comfortable on the bed and we just spent the whole day watching movies and eating snacks.

I looked at her and smiled, she was sleeping so soundly now.

She confessed that she couldn’t sleep well without me by her side.

Now that I think about it, now that I have even seen the kind of person Sasha is, it is possible.

But how?

Questions like, if Jade is really my mate then why did my wolf mistake Sasha for my mate?

And now that I think about it, there is only one person I can think of in this case.

I looked at Jade, she mentioned that her so-called fiance was someone powerful.

Maybe he somehow knew the future and he somehow managed to do something to mess with it.

I mean he wants Jade, so to get me out of the way he found me a replacement.

But if he could do something as impossible as faking a mate bond among people.

Why Sasha?

He could have easily chosen anyone in this world to create the fake bond with.

Why her?

And is my theory impossible?

Or is this all just a snowball’s chance in hell?

“No, it’s not,” Onyx suddenly said and I was confused for a second.

“Look at the mark on her neck,” Onyx said and I looked at Jade.
