“That’s is what we can’t figure out,” Mrs Bennett answered and I nodded at this.

Huh, then how does the story end?

I looked at Jade who seemed deep in thought at this new revelation.

I hope that now she will understand why Onyx imprinted on her.

I hope it will have her asking all the right questions.

Jade is smart and will be able to put two and two together in no time.

“Is that why you had me marry Dante?” Jade asked her mother who nodded.

at me.

“You have special abilities don’t you?” she asked me.

I looked at Alpha King Howard who had a smile as he looked at me.

“It’s okay, you and I are distant relatives. If the family’s abilities chose to show themselves in you then who am I to be angry? I have never been a man who went against fate,” Alpha King Howard

assured me.

“Yes, but how did the two of you know about it?” I asked them and they just shrugged.

I guess they weren’t sure but were just shooting darts in the dark.

And one landed because they were right. I looked at the Alpha King and I couldn’t believe that he didn’t see me as a threat.

I know that there were times when a child showed such abilities and they weren’t the child of the Alpha King that was reigning, they would put them down.

There was a time when an entire pack was killed because they couldn’t find a boy with such

abilities.

This is why my mother and I made sure to hide it.

I looked at Jade, she is really not happy with me right now.

And the good thing is that it’s about 2 hours from here to our pack so we should be okay.

curiously.

What else does he have left to say?

“My wife, she believed that love conquers all. Maybe you are not these people we think you are,” he said and then looked at the painting.

“But what matters is that you love each other. I can see that love when you look at each other. Love comes in different ways and forms,” he said with a sigh.

“Sometimes it comes like a hurricane and pulls you into a whirlwind of emotions. Sometimes it comes in the calmness of a bright sunny day,” he said and then smiled at this.

His eyes landed on Jade who was also listening but I could tell she still had a lot on her mind.

“You sound like a true King. Wise and kind,” Jade suddenly, and the old blushed at her words.

“I also need to go home. Don’t you have any questions?” Mrs Bennett asked us.

“Not really, but if it is okay with you. Can I borrow these scrolls, I want to read the diary entries,” I

said and he nodded at this.

We went back to our car and as we were about to leave Mrs Bennett suddenly got out of her car.

Her eyes landed on Jade and she seemed a little terrified.

“We have a problem, a massive one at that,” she said and I watched as Jade frowned at this.

“Grandmother, where is she?” she asked.

“Apparently, she is at Dante’s pack,” she answered looking at me.

“Why do you both look like that? She is your mother and your grandmother,” I pointed out.

They didn’t seem really happy at all because of this news.

“She wants to see me too,” Mrs Bennett added and the two of them sighed.

I don’t think they realize how similar they are at times.

“She is a monster,” Jade answered with a frown and her mother nodded.

“A beast, she always has a way of ruining things for everyone. Her presence at your pack can’t be a good idea,” Mrs Bennett added.

She can’t be that bad right?

I bet she is very old right now and is probably looking to mend things with everyone.

If everyone fears her so much then I understand that she might want to reconnect with her family.

“Let’s not keep her waiting,” Jade suggested and her mother nodded.

She went to her car and as we drove off I stole glances at my mate.

She has been thinking a lot lately but this feels different.

I can feel the fear radiating from her.

Is she scared of her grandmother that much?

“I wish you had told me the truth,” Jade said and I looked at her.

“Finding it out from someone else scared me. I am angry that you did it without telling me, but I am also scared that you will change your mind one day,” she explained and I looked at her confused.

“Why would I change my mind? Do you still not trust me? I told you that you have my undying love,” I retorted and she looked at me.

I watched how she nodded but then smiled after some time.
