Jade’s pov

“I have some urgent work to do. I will see you later today,” Alpha Dante said as he kissed my

forehead.

“Oh before I forget,” he said and walked to the desk and opened a drawer.

He took out a white lily and smiled as he handed it to me.

“How long do you plan on doing this?” I asked him looking at the flower.

“Until the day I die, this is a symbol of my undying devotion,” he answered and then kissed my forehead again before walking.

I started getting ready for work as well when the door opened,

“Did

you forget something?” I asked Dante.

“It’s me,” Sasha said and I turned around to look at my older sister.

“You must be happy,” she said and I looked at her confused.

“You and your friend planned it so perfectly,” she said and I frowned at this.

“What are you talking about?” I asked her and she scoffed.

“You know exactly what I am talking about. You planned all that didn’t you? She reveals the truth

and you act all innocent. Great act,” she said and I looked at her.

Is it because I constantly indulge her and give in to her demands?

I mean why else would someone be so ungrateful?

“You like making me the villain,” she added and I rolled my eyes.

“If I really wanted to make you the villain. Do you think that I need to pull such a stupid act?” I asked

her

“I could easily tell everyone what you did to the barrier. That you are the reason Ben died and why we have been working our asses off to make sure that no one else got possessed,” I reminded her.

“I think that would probably make you look like a villain,” I added and she sighed.

“I am sorry sister, it’s just that I hate how everyone looks at me now,” she said gently.

I looked at her, she was acting yet again.

“We never learn do we? The truth always comes out, like it did back then, I said and then chuckled

“Come to think of it, even back then you blamed me for everything” I added and then sighed.

Flashback

“No, you said it was the last time,” I said to Sasha,

“I know, but today is the day I will finally and officially be named the future Coven leader, I am so nervous that I might make a mistake,” she said and I shook my head.

“This isn’t right, I don’t have a good feeling about this,” I said and she rolled her eyes,

“What could happen? We have been able to do it without getting caught. What could happen?” she

asked me and I sighed.

“You promise that this is the last time?” I asked her and she nodded,

“And when I become coven leader, I will make sure to protect you,” she said and I smiled and

nodded.

We walked to our positions and Mom got up to address the coven members,

“Jade, come here,” she suddenly said and I looked at her confused.

“Jade Bennett, come here,” she repeated herself and I frowned,

If I am at the front then I won’t be able to help Sasha with her spells,

And why is she suddenly calling me?

She has never remembered me a day in her life and she decides to remember my existence today

I got out of my hiding spot and walked towards her.

Maybe this won’t take time and I will go back to being ignored.

As I climbed my last step she suddenly looked at me and chanted a magic spell.

Before I knew it, I felt a strong wind pushing me to the ground,

If I fall from this height I could die.

And even if I don’t, I will fall on my back and possibly die.

Calm down Jade, magic is like energy.

I closed my eyes and focused on taking control of the wind.

If she can command the wind then so can I.

When I finally got a grasp of the wind and it was in my control.

I used it to help me land on my feet.

The moment I landed I looked at my mother confused.

I suddenly felt something touch my feet and I looked down to find a tree branch holding on to my

foot.

It was dragging me in hopes that I lose my

balance.’

I focused my magic on my fingers, made sure it was sharp, and cut the branch.

Then more and more came and all I could do was try to defend myself.

When I was done I paused to take a breath when I was suddenly surrounded by fire and it was

closing in on me.

I focused all my magic and channeled all the water that was on the ground up to extinguish the

fire.

When I was done I felt it as my knees gave out.

I looked up at my mother, was she trying to kill me?

I looked at her but she had this big smile on her face as she was looking at me.

My eyes landed on my father and I saw how shocked he was.

I looked around and all the coven members had the same expressions on their faces.

“Jade Bennett, I officially declare that you will be the future Coven leader of this Coven,” Mom said and then looked at the members.

“Does anyone object to my decision?” she asked them but no one said anything.

I looked at my sister Sasha and she was just standing there frozen.

Well, in her defense I was also frozen in place.

What the hell just happened right now?

Addison and Tommy ran to my side and helped me up.

“You were amazing,” Addison said and Tommy nodded.

“Your mom was like bam, and you were boom and then bang and bang,” she said throwing her

hands in the air.

“Amazing, she is a natural talent, even better than her older sister,” I heard some people say.

I ran home so I could ask Mom why she did such a thing.

Sasha suddenly stood in front of me with a frown on her face.

Claim

“You did this on purpose, didn’t you? You just had to show off your magic,” she said and I looked at

her confused.

“Mom attacked me, I had to defend myself,” I defended and she rolled her eyes.

“You did this on purpose, first you stole my dress, and now this,” she said and I looked at her

confused.

“Being Coven leader is my right and not yours,” she said and I tried to say something but stopped

myself.

“I didn’t do this, ask Mom why she did this,” I said.

“No need, I am here so I will tell you,” she said and walked towards us.

She then held my hand and smiled at me.

This is the first time I have seen her smile or show affection to me.

“Did you think that your little stunt would fool me? I knew all along that you two were working together,” she said.

“I am sorry Mommy, I just wanted to make sure everything goes well. I didn’t want to embarrass

you,” Sasha explained.

“What do you think would have happened if people found out the truth? I would have been

embarrassed anyway,” Mom retorted.

“Mommy, I am so sorry. I was just doing what was best for the Coven,” Sasha said.

“And so am I, that is why I made Jade the future coven leader,” Mom retorted and then walked away with me still holding her hand.

We got to my room and I found all these presents on the bed.

“Mommy neglected you didn’t she?” she asked me and I didn’t answer.

“Now I will spend all my time with you. I will train you to be a good leader, You are brimming with so much talent,” she said and kissed my forehead.

She walked out and a few minutes later Sasha walked in and looked around my room.

“This is what you wanted, isn’t it? You planned this and are acting all innocent,” she said and then

stormed off.

I have a terrible cold. We are entering winter here in South Africa and the weather is getting colder. It took me longer than normal to finish this chapter. I was also dozing off while writing.
