Chapter 130 Real Stomach Pain

Finished

Stella had lifted her hand to greet him, yet Jasper never noticed. He hurried past and left the path in a rush.

Stella’s expression turned sharp with discontent. Jasper left our quarters long ago. Why is he still wandering the grounds?

Nadia stared toward the winding path ahead. That road leads directly to Ms. Campbell’s courtyard.

The truth dawned on both of them in an instant.

Jasper had not gone straight to dine with Timothy after leaving Stella. He had turned and headed for Margaret’s courtyard instead.

Still, it made no sense for him to leave alone afterward.

Timothy had summoned all his children for dinner, and Margaret would attend as well. Their paths should have run side by side.

As they puzzled over his strange behavior, a familiar figure appeared in the distance.

It was Margaret, walking alone through the dim estate grounds.

Night had fallen completely, yet the Prime Minister’s Estate stayed bright. Lanterns lined every courtyard wall and narrow path, and maids and servants passed by with candle lamps in hand. The road ahead stayed welllit and clear.

Nadia sneered, Mr. Jasper Campbell must have gone to demand justice for you. Why else would he rush straight to Ms. Campbell’s quarters right after leaving your side?

A look of smug satisfaction crossed her face. She chased away all her maids and kept only the most timid servant to tend to her. She deserves to live lonely and isolated now. It’s only a shame Mr. Jasper Campbell didn’t make a scene. He merely scolded her briefly and let her get off far too easily.

Stella narrowed her eyes coldly. What hidden scheme is she plotting now?

Do you mean that random bowl of chicken soup she supposedly made for you?Nadia asked.

Stella frowned. What else?

Nadia offered a harsh smirk. We’ll drag the truth out of her right now.”

She stepped forward at once and blocked Margaret’s path. Ms. Campbell, it was unforgivable of you to slip harmful substances into Ms. Stella Campbell’s soup.”

Margaret furrowed her brows, Move.

Nadia stood firmly in place and refused to budge.

Stella walked forward slowly until she stood face to face with Margaret. Our rivalry has always been bitter, yet we need not destroy each other within this estate. Why offer me a kind gesture and make chicken soup

out of nowhere? What devious plan are you hiding?

Margaret let out a cold laugh. Believe whatever answer you want to hear.

Stella’s face darkened. Are you threatening me?

Finished

Father called us all to dinner long ago.Margaret wore a faint, knowing smile. Are you certain you want to pick a fight right now?

Stella’s tone turned cold and venomous. Everyone knows we’ve never gotten along. You pretend to be generous and make me soup, then lace it with something to hurt me. You grow far too bold, thinking you can act without consequence.

Margaret raised an eyebrow. What proof do you have that I poisoned your soup? Or did you fake your stomach pain just to slander me?

I see right through your tricks,Stella said sharply. You made two separate bowls of soupone safe for Jasper, one tainted for me. You had him deliver it personally, all to twist his perception and make him think I’m lying about you. Your schemes are obvious.

But Jasper trusts me wholeheartedly, and your empty lies will never hold weight.

Margaret let out a dry, amused chuckle. Your stomach pain must have addled your common sense.

You-

I have no time or reason to poison your food,Margaret said plainly. Your soup was simply poorly prepared. Those who have never cooked do not know how to blanch raw meat first. Mixing too many conflicting medicinal herbs and rich ingredients can cause mild stomach cramps in large amounts. A small sip does no harm, but drinking a full bowl will leave you aching. Rest easyit is nothing lifethreatening.

Margaret wore an innocent, harmless expression, and every word she spoke was the unvarnished truth.

Jasper had no skill in cooking. He loaded the soup with strong restorative herbs without knowing they would clash with each other and upset the stomach. The soup was messy and unbalanced. I would never touch such carelessly made food.

He only took a few small sips out of sentiment for his sisters, so he felt no discomfort at all.
