Chapter 169 Hiding His Curiosity
It was the masked man I saved by chance that day.
No wonder he sought me out–he’s already taken my medicine before.

Realizing this, Margaret nodded slowly. “Very well. Since we’ve met once before, I’ll choose to trust you this time.”
Keith said earnestly, “Thank you, Ms. Campbell. If you can rid me of this poison, I shall reward you handsomely.”
“No need for lavish gifts.” Margaret shook her head. “Your poison is far from simple, and it can’t be cured in a hurry. Listen–you know Sweet Breeze Dining, don’t you? The feast hall belongs to me now. Right next door is a medicine shop called Healing Peace Hall. Come find me there whenever you’re ready to cure the poison.”
Keith asked gravely, “Can’t you treat me today?”
“I already told you your poison is unusual. It can’t be healed on the spot,” Margaret explained plainly. “Besides, I’m stuck in a carriage right now with no medicines on hand. How could I possibly treat you here?”
Keith hung his head. “I spoke out of turn.”
Margaret lifted the carriage curtain and glanced outside. Relief washed over her when she saw they were still on the main street. “Tell the coachman to stop at Sweet Breeze Dining.”
Keith stared at her quietly.
Margaret added, “I don’t have time to treat you today. Hurry and tell the coachman to head there.”
Keith coughed softly before relaying the order to the coachman outside.
Money truly makes the world go round. It seems I’ll have to replace my carriage driver soon.
I can’t risk him being bribed by strangers again.
Moments later, the carriage pulled to a stop outside Sweet Breeze Dining.
Margaret was about to step down when Keith suddenly reached out and held her wrist.
He asked, “Did you forget something, Ms. Campbell?”
Margaret blinked. “Oh, the needle’s numbing effect will wear off in thirty minutes. Relax–one tiny needle isn’t enough to harm you.”
She pulled her hand free, then glanced at his wrist curiously. “Your hands are slimmer and more delicate than a woman’s. They don’t look like the hands of someone who wields weapons at all.”
Keith nodded faintly. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

“I’ve remembered your name, Keith.” Margaret stepped down from the carriage. “I will keep that silver as compensation for my trouble today. Bring my full consultation fee when you come next time.”
With that, she turned and walked straight into Sweet Breeze Dining without looking back.
For a moment there, she thought she was in real danger. Now it was clear Keith meant no harm.
Still, only someone of extraordinary status would be poisoned with such rare, complex toxins–no ordinary commoner would ever be targeted with such valuable venom.
Meanwhile, inside the study at the Ducal Palace, Theodore sat alone at the table for a long while before finally standing up and walking out.
Cyan hurried after him. “Prince Theodore, are you heading out somewhere?”
Theodore said calmly, “The palace feels stuffy. I’m going for a walk.”
Cyan nodded at once. “I’ll arrange a carriage at once.”
They traveled discreetly through the back gate in an ordinary carriage when not on official business.
Along the way, Cyan quietly asked the servants about Margaret’s whereabouts.
When he learned her carriage had stopped outside Sweet Breeze Dining, he directed their own carriage straight there.
Cyan sat at the front, acting as the coachman. “That feast hall was once yours, Prince Theodore. You gave it to Ms. Campbell on a whim the other day. No wonder she’s been rushing about these past two days–she must be settling her newly acquired properties.
“We might find out who this ‘important person‘ she’s meeting if we go inside.”
Theodore’s cold voice came from inside the carriage. “It seems you have far too much free time lately. Did I ask you to meddle in such trivial matters?”
Cyan said, “I know I’ve overstepped. Shall we turn back?”
Theodore said indifferently, “We’re already here. It does no harm to take a look.”
Cyan fell into silence.
I knew he was being stubborn and reserved, but I never imagined he’d be this obvious about hiding his curiosity.
Just as the carriage reached Sweet Breeze Dining and prepared to stop, they caught sight of Margaret hurrying out the door with a tall man at her side,
Cyan was about to greet her when Margaret climbed straight into another carriage.
The carriage sped away at once, and Cyan ordered their own driver to follow without hesitation.
Theodore had already spotted Sweet Breeze Dining through the carriage window.
Seeing they kept moving without stopping, he said coldly, “We’ve arrived.”
