Chapter 170 Perfect Timing
Theodore pulled aside the carriage curtain and glanced out. Upon seeing the sign for Life Preserve Pavilion, he let the curtain fall shut again.
Cyan asked, “Prince Theodore, shall we go inside?”

This is only a medicine shop, after all. We’re neither sick nor injured, and there’s no reason to come here just for honey
water.
If we run into Ms. Campbell by chance, it’ll feel far too forced to pretend it’s a coincidence.
Yet if we leave now, what was the point of following her all this way?
Cyan’s gaze drifted forward. “Another carriage has just pulled up. It looks to be Crown Prince Christopher’s.”
Theodore frowned slightly and stayed silent.
Cyan recalled a piece of news he’d heard. “Word has it Crown Prince Christopher comes to Life Preserve Pavilion every single day lately.”
As his meaningful words faded, Theodore’s calm voice came from inside the carriage. “Turn back.”
Cyan froze for a moment, tempted to ask if they really shouldn’t go inside and take a look.
Yet he swallowed the words back at once.
He had never once dared go against any of Theodore’s orders.
Margaret stepped out of the carriage and hurried inside the Life Preserve Pavilion right behind a young
servant.
The servant spoke anxiously as they walked. “Thank goodness I found you in time. If I’d failed to bring you here quickly, Mr. Kingston would be in grave danger.”
Margaret frowned tightly, “He’s always been in good health. How could he suddenly collapse without any warning?”
What a chaotic day this has turned out to be.
She’d planned to settle Lisa and Julie first, but no sooner had she sat down than Darren’s servant came looking for her.
Thankfully, Lisa and Julie had sorted themselves out already. One would stay and train at Sweet Breeze Dining, the other at the neighboring medicine shop. They’d moved into the staff quarters at the feast hall, with food and lodging provided–she didn’t need to worry about them at all.
The young servant led the way up the stairs. “Mr. Kingston has always been healthy, yet he’s suffered a sudden heart seizure. All our most skilled healers have examined him already. Every single one says his

condition is critical. He may never wake up, and even if he does, he could be left disabled for life. It’s truly terrifying.
‘I’m only a humble servant and shouldn’t overstep my place. But I still remember how masterful your acupuncture skills were when you saved someone that day–even Mr. Kingston praised you highly. That’s why I rushed to find you for help. You’re our only hope now. Mr. Kingston has always treated me kindly, and I can’t bear to lose him. Life Preserve Pavilion simply cannot go on without him.”
Margaret recognized the young man at once. He was the one who’d come to invite her the first time Darren sent for her.
I never thought the next time he’d fetch me would be because Mr. Kingston himself had fallen deathly ill.
Even skilled healers cannot always cure their own ailments; misfortune can befall anyone.
She followed him up to the second floor and soon laid eyes on Darren.
He lay weak and motionless in bed, and a heavy silence hung over the room.
The servant said quietly, “A great many townsfolk have caught a chill lately, and all the healers here are swamped with work. They all tended to Mr. Kingston briefly before rushing off to other patients. Everything happened so suddenly that I haven’t had time to notify his family yet. It will likely grow busy here soon. Please examine Mr. Kingston carefully first. I’ll stand guard outside and make sure no one disturbs you.”
Margaret said not a word. She walked straight to the bedside and began examining Darren closely.
Just then, voices drifted in from outside the door.
The servant said politely, “Crown Prince Christopher, Mr. Kingston has suffered a sudden heart seizure and cannot treat you today.”
Christopher replied, “I heard as much downstairs. So there’s no chance he’ll wake up at all now, is there?”
The servant hurried to explain, “That isn’t true. Ms. Campbell is already inside treating him. Whether Mr. Kingston recovers depends on her diagnosis.”
Christopher frowned sharply, “Ms. Campbell? You mean Margaret?”
Once he got his answer, he moved to push open the door at once. “Perfect timing. I was just about to look for her anyway.”
